I have several friends living in Japan, three of whom are in Tokyo and one who I regard as 'best mate'.

It seems the devastation in some places is on an almost unimaginable scale. For instance, CTV Edmonton reports thus: "Miyagi, with a population of 2.3 million, is one of the worst-affected prefectures after Friday's earthquake and tsunami. So far, only 379 people have officially been confirmed there."

Let's remember that Japan is a civilised population with an enviable infrastructure, as well as a thorough awareness amongst the population of their own vulnerability, which means they take their 'preparedness' for incidents such as this very seriously. Yet in spite of this, the death toll is likely to be huge…

Well said Stereo...what are we to do, ban all jokes in case it offends someone.

Peopletaking the moral highround (fnarr fnarr) about one subject but I bet they have laughed at something someone else would find offensive!

Rescuers in Japan have called in Elton John, George Michael and Graham Norton to help search through the rubble for injured victims. Their work could prove invaluable as they are experts in seeing japs eyes covered in ****.

11 safety men, 11 thousand tonnes of equipment and 2 search dogs have been sent to Japan.
I do not think 2 dogs will be enough to feed them.

You have to feel sorry for the foreign bastards. The trauma of losing everything in almost an instant.

Oh well, there's always next season Arsenal.

Radiation leak confirmed at Fukushima plant in Japan.

The guy who named that plant must have really hated Shima.
