He did against United, however if you watch back closely in the other games, he tries to get in from and win the ball at times when it is clear he shouldn't. Everyone waxed lyrical at his performance against Newcastle, however there were several times when he made wrong decisions when marking and playing out. These things aren't often spotted in the flow of a game, but I commented several times as they happened while watching. It's like Pelle on his thread, I am not really criticising him, just being realistic in my assessment of them. Sometimes fans 'feel' things were all good after a victory and don't see some of the improvements that could be made. Gardos has done well, but has a lot to learn and improve on for the Premier League. He's a good player and I'm sure Koeman is the best person to tweak those improvements in to him. * and I'm the one who normally moans about the fans who seek perfection!!!
One might think you just like to argue? I don't think Gardos is perfect or as good as a defender as Alderwiereld. Also I'm not ignoring the mistakes Yoshida has made in his time with us, they've been well documented on this forum. I still think both are good players, and it's important we have them both with us, especially as it looks like Toby won't be signing.
What happened to Gardos today? I haven't seen anything of the game as I was at a Wigan match I see he came off in first half; injured?
Great news that Japan are out; Yoshida on his way 'home' and UAE through to the semi's! Although all a little subdued here with the death of King Abdullah of KSA.
Yes, his main problem yesterday was that he only had Jack Cork in front of him most of the time yesterday, because Davis kept going forward leaving a huge hole through the middle..
