I'm sure there were schemes set up a few years ago to get dyslexic people free macbooks and so on.

My magnificent first grand-daughter has just graduated with 2-1, she is profoundly dyslexic, and a dyed in the wool SAFC supporter.
Graduation ceremony soon - coming back for this. <cheers>

I am severely dyslexic. I got a grant when i was at uni to get a free computer. That was 18 years ago now so things have probably changed.

Congratulations to your daughter Noggie! Having to deal with dyslexia and still graduating is a wonderful achievement. An SAFC supporter as well. You sir, have done well!!!

My daughter (does that make me younger than you?) graduated with a 2:1 this summer, and we also celebrated her 21st yesterday. Unfortunately to my everlasting shame, I couldn't drag her back from the dark side, and she still remains a gooner.

So kudos my friend, at least one of us has ensured that our futile hope of a greater future for SAFC has passed on to a younger, more naive yet ambitious generation.

You've never mentioned that before (I don't think, ya bugger)!

You haven't done too bad for yourself mate!

That's really impressive Vegas. I hope you're passing that message along to others with the same "disability" (is that the right word?), that you can still be successful in life without those GCSEs of whatever they are these days.

I know somebody who got the grant for a macbook about 5 years ago, I'm not sure it was from the gov't or a charity though. It's worth looking into for those who want to be in education and have the condition.

My pal has it bad also, he found the girl of his dreams and discovered she also has it bad. His entire family are lawyers/barristers/solicitors and he always felt like he was a black sheep. He's started up a research clinic in Toronto and has blagged multiple seven figure sums from several pharma companies to fund his clinic's trials, absolutely amazing.

Dyslexia does not stop you getting GCSEs or a degree. I have both.

Dyslexia can be a big problem if not diagnosed early. When I was at primary school I got bullied by my teacher. She used to call me thick. Then I got bullied by the kids at secondary school because my english was so bad.

It is also a gift though because I was very good at maths and any creative subject that did not require reading or writing, like music for instance.

I got diagnosed when I was 15. I had an extremely high IQ but the reading and writing skills of a 9 year old.

I was lucky: my dad bought me a computer and helped me with my reading and writing, I worked extremely hard and without a computer and additional aid like people reading exam questions to me I would not have passed some of my GCSEs.

The more I used the computer the better my English got. I still struggle at times especially reading, I am still a very slow reader and I have to read things several times for the information to go in. I miss read things all the time which has caused me the odd issue.

Forums, facebook and social media has really helped me, to be involved you have to read & write (or you did before voice recognition) and the more I write and express myself the better I get at it.

I still read through most posts several times before pressing the send button, and I still miss mistakes I have made.

Some of the most successful entrepreneurs in the world have been dyslexic. Richard Branson for instance. Thats a great inspiration to me.

Do you attribute your own success to being dyslexic or at least some of it?

Like you say, it made you better at certain other things, do you think if you weren't dyslexic you may not have had as much success.

I'm assuming you're not living in a dustbin by the way, you just don't seem the type!

I think my success in music has been down to it. I have a natural ability to pick up an instrument and be able to learn to play by ear quickly. The same DJing I can just do it. That has lead on to my own business in the music and events industry. So it has aided me to get to where I am now.

I put my success in business down to my dad though. He worked extremely hard all his life, he always instilled an ethic of hard word and success into me. He also taught me a lot about business. Its a shame he died so suddenly as I am sure his business would have become very successful. It probably still will as my mum is now running things now and she also works bloody hard.

I have been extremely lucky, I was not born with a silverspoon in my mouth (far from it we were poor as **** when I was a kid) but I had wonderful parents who supported me and loved me. I put my success in business down to them.

I see plenty of kids now who don't have that love and support from their patents and I realise how lucky I have been.

That's awesome mate, you can't underestimate the value of good parenting I guess.

You're humble with it as well, which is admirable.

Sorry to hear about your old man.

I think this requires extreme action, its time to kidnap Pedro and take him to Manchester. We definitely need another player whose name no one can spell.

Why does that matter? Squad numbers mean **** mate, he can still leave and vacate the number(him coming to us is whole differant discussion) and someone else can still take it
