So Charlie was overpriced? All you have done is taken one moment in time and using it for your argument. It doesn't work like that. Yes, you get some good talent in the lower leagues but most are there for a reason. You also get some crap players up the higher end but that's football. The reason we got players like Boswinger/Park/Ceasar/Caulker was because of the manager at the time and what the club wanted.
If you believe that filling the team with low quality is the answer you are wrong. Another thing you forget to mention is where are we now compared to where we were before? The more we dilute the squad the further we will fall down the league.
It wasn't just a moment in time though was it? We consistently overspent on crap for a few years and are still suffering because of it. Where in Watfords post does he infer Charlie was overpriced? Or that he advocates filling the team with low quality? He did neither. Face facts we have no choice but to shop in the lower leagues and hope we unearth a gem, it doesn't mean intentionally buying sub par players but it's a gamble. And yes I too would prefer that than seeing more Bosingwa's, park's, Caulkers, Swp's, Mbia's, Granero's, Caesar's, Samba's, Johnson's etc etc etc. Moment in time my arse.

That's fine I take your comments although I don't agree entirely with what you say. However, if you think that getting in inferior players is the way forward we shouldn't expect you to complain in the future if the team is not doing that good. :emoticon-0148-yes:

That will be our great director of football who has no idea what he’s doing
I thought it was the manager who tells sir les that he wants a certain position and then he amongst others offer options to the manager. Surely Holloway said he wanted a winger. If that isn't the case then we have learned nothing from our overspending. Going from buying big name has beens to players who you don't even have a position for. Let's be frank, the club from the top is a shambles financially. I have to agree with Oslo, I could well see Pavel leaving at this rate.

I would say that the club is now, finally, working in a financially sound manner. The reduction in the size of the squad has begun in this window, and, after the summer - with pretty much all of the old overblown contracts expired - we will have a wage bill that is sustainable.

The guy impressed when played on the wing and his delivery lead to many goals. If we are to continue to play wing backs, he is of far less value to us and I wouldn't be unhappy to see him go.

Good point, well made Jimbo. Staying in the Championship while achieving this should be something to celebrate surely.

Pav is no great shakes. If he goes he goes, most championship teams have a more productive player. Lloyd Dyer for eg.

Not joking Bob, I am serious. What can Pav do that the average winger at the likes of Burton, Bolton, Brentford for eg can't do? I'd much rather Canos from BFC who tore us a new one . He's scored one fluky goal and turns more towards our goal than the oppo's theses days.

Fav looks very shaky this year with his final ball when he is playing wide ... maybe he has run out of chances?

No problem either way for me as long as we keep our core players this team will be fine in the championship

That's cos he's playing more full back than winger

Hence why Oslo said he may want to leave. He's been asked to defend more than attack. The best part of his game has been taken away from him. Anyway been through all that in other threads.

Three more youngsters go along with Simon Ireland the academy coach

Axel Prohouly, Dan Darbyshire and Danny Rowe and likely to leave by mutual consent after being told they have no future at the club.
These three have not shone in development squad so completely understandable

Know nothing about Simon Ireland who has been with us for 3 years

I think he's our best wing back, defends well, links passing well with our central midfield the whole length of the pitch, runs more than any other player I reckon, and still gets past players and gets in some decent crosses. Ok, he doesn't score enough but he's not the only one unfortunately. The problem which I think Ski posted before is that he has played for Poland as a winger, and playing as a back may not help him get into Poland's World Cup squad this summer. But that he's a full Polish International confirms he is class, and one player I think Ollie really should have been playing, and should play regularly in the side. As Furlong has also said he'd prefer to go on loan to get regular games, going 4 2 3 1 or similar, with Furlong as RB and Pawel on the right of the 3 ought to be a formation that uses both our class winger and a promising RB, and one Ollie is hopefully looking at.
