Here's a little puzzle:-
A few months ago we tried to get Chris Burke from Birmingham, but they wanted £300k for him, even though he would be a free agent in the summer and BMcd said he wasn't willing to spend that amount on a player he could get for free in a few months time. No player who only has a couple of months is worth that sort of money.
Fast forward to last week when Burnley had bid for Ashley Barnes and we tried to hijack it for £500k. So why would BMcD change his mind.
I would have preffered us getting Chris Burke last week instead of the 2 we got.
Firstly I thought it was 600k for Burke. Secondly, would you really have preferred Burke to the 2 players we have got. Admittedly, both haven't started well but Kebe is a class act, by far Reading's best player when they got promoted and not only that has both the hard working and quality attributes in his game, the guy will turn out to be a great signing imo. and I think its a shame that we won't be able to sign him in the summer (I heard the clause is we sign him if we get promoted only). And onto Stewart, he is a full 8 years younger than Burke, not that long ago a 2mish bid from leicester got rejected from Hull because they thought he was worth more than that, has clear potential and just needs to find his feet again.
I still was a little surprised we didn't pursue Burke in the summer but I can see what McD's thinking was. He doesn't have the ability to step up at his age and we probably didn't really have the funds to waste in the summer either.
McD is working on signing pre-contract deals with players out of contract in June, so maybe Burke is amongst those, along with Rowe from Posh

If we are looking at playing 4-4-2 we need at least 4 wide players/wingers in the squad who are all capable of playing in the first team, such an important position in the modern game. I don't know enough about Rowe though (I heard he has been injured a bit this season) and I would only be getting Burke on a 2 year contract at most imo. if we do go for him, maybe that won't be enough but for the reasons stated above I don't think he'd be worth anymore than that.
Which is worst!!!
Actually thinking you stand a chance of buying Liam Moore or wanting Luke Moore

but I never thought we had a chance of buying Liam Moore, not that we need a CB anyway. I wouldn't mind Luke Moore, at this level and for free he would do ok. Also comparing him to our other strikers I think he'd be at the very very least 3rd choice striker which would improve our squad if nothing else. Admittedly, he's never scored much but I think he could help Ross get the goals a bit like how blackstock did.
Of course I would prefer if we got better though
