Very much like Wood, Winnall is the kind of player I'd be willing to take a punt on if he were a free transfer or available for a smaller fee, but I'm not sure I'd be too comfortable to spend the bulk of our budget on him. That said, the Conor Washington fee has inflated the lower league player prices massively, so I wouldn't expect Barnsley to sell for anything less than at least £1m+, and I suspect they'd still hold out for more now they know we should have money from the Byram sale. Seller's market. I'd wait until the summer to do more business, Wolves spending £3m on Joe Mason just proves how ridiculously difficult it is to find value in January
Nah you didn't, I've been gone a while! I occasionally lurk, but I don't post all that much these days. I'm pretty busy at the moment so I don't get much time to come online. It's that, coupled with being thoroughly fed up with everything at Leeds...
Heres the thing I dont understand about the Winnall bid Kiwi. Clearly Evans rated him, hence the bid. Surely so, if he thinks highly of him, he has to be worth a punt at 1m. Even if he didnt work out, wages wouldnt be huge and wed surely recoup the extra half million were having to pay. Either that, or he was only going to feature in our "one for the future" squad anyway
I agree, If Evans believes this guy can score 20 goals in this division he has to be worth the money, half of what we paid out for Wood? If he can't score 20 we should be leaving well alone.
Think we will still go for Kyle Lafferty myself but may have to wait for window to close to get on loan,Norwlch have signed 2 more strikers this window,so unless they can sell by tomorrows deadline will be desperate to loan out after.
