I genuinely don't expect anything particularly exciting in January. A few grafters in to hold the line.
Much as it pains me I agree with you. We are not an attractive proposition based on our league position. As has been said before a couple of quality signings early on would go a long way to encourage others but if they don't come in we'll have to find similar players to 12/13 window (Sissoko, Debuchy, Yanga-Mbiwa, Haidara, Gouffran, Mbabu) In fact thinking about it, that exact Window would probably work for us now!
I think it'll be better than any ashley window, but there's definitely going to be alot of rejection. I feel many are all set up to complain when they don't get the players they think they can though. Maybe I'll be wrong, but I just like you say see it being attractive right now.. If we stay up then I'm the summer that would change quite dramatically.
In theory, we should simply look to strengthen 1 player in each position with a good quality replacement, and then 1 good quality youngster. I.e a good keeper, with a youngster as understudy 1 good quality defender with a youngster who is first team ready 1 good quality midfielder with a youngster who is first team ready 1 good quality forward with a youngster who is first team ready If this is enough to change our fortunes this season remains to be seen. Regardless of how they go about it. Eddie Howe needs to know how he wants to play football long term and buy players for these positions. No point in buying players to for 4-4-2 if his long term view is a 4-3-3 simply because he wants to improve the players playing presently.
Things you never thought you'd hear a newcastle manager saying when asked about transfer targets "we're open to everything"
Essentially the only issue we've got is the players not wanting to come and right now the top players won't fancy it
