We don't have 30 X more money to spend. We have less. We are not the richest club in the world, we just have the richest owners. We have no idea how much money they want to put into the club yet. Even if they want to invest on a level that would dwarf Man City, they cannot spend anything like as much as Man City did in their early days due to the tightened FFP rules on fees and wages. A lot of people got carried away when this takeover happened assuming we could spend a massive % of the PIF wealth (~cough~ Munse). That simply is not the case.
To be fair he kept on saying we only had £50m a year............. whilst posting Gifs saying Billions & Billions
In fairness the majority of the players we have been associated with I've never heard of and I'd say I'm not alone in that.
Well at least the most pressing subject has been resolved , now Roy has changed his name again Never trust someone who has changed their name and only has 1 eyebrow!
They have said 250 million over the 1st 5 years.. It can be spent whatever they like of that each year. It doesn't mean a restriction to 50 a year It's what happens when they get somewhere when they'll turn the screw. Every step up the ladder they'll crank it up..
Just seen this on a news article and made me chuckle! "The Magpies continue to be linked with players left, right and centre, as fans patiently await new faces at the club." Pretty sure that's a subtle dig at the fans but one I completely understand - seen some madness out there, almost as much as on here

You're right on the takeover. I think I allowed my feelings of not being sure whether or not I wanted it to happen to cloud my judgement. I think you'll find I am one of the ones trying to be positive and say stay patient at the minute though!

Some would argue they weren't truly the first 10 signings. Kompany, Wright Phillips, Jo, Tal Ben Haim, Zabeleta all arrived just before the Sheik took over. Rumour was they were already having input. Two of those guys became stalwarts for the club over a long period. Mike didn't leave us with such gems. For sure though either way Man City's starting point was far better than ours. They signed those 5 plus Robinho on arrival. So instantly you're talking about a squad much better off. The previous season they also finished 9th with Sven investing in a series of internationals that season. Which just goes to show timing is everything and the two situations are poles apart. Its exactly why our fans need to chill the **** out, get a grip and realise patience is required. We might not find business easy this month. We might go down. We are not a 9th place side who signed a world superstar when the new owner arrived in the summer. We are a relegation threatened club who finished 12th the previous season (flirting with relegation along the way), and didn't invest hugely to improve the squad in the summer. We signed a young player called Willock. That was it. I'm not worried because the long term picture is all positive unless they ditch us. I could only see them doing that if the fans go on like a bunch of knobs.
