Villa have a lot of money invested. The FFP issue is weird. Remember they did sell Grealish. And they did spend money. I think the situation with them is they may indeed be coming up with a new sponsor. That would assist things.
FFP doesn’t exist now, it’s been shot down after the Man City debacle. There’s so many ways around it, if your owners have cash and ambition (which villa do). I never expected Digne. But I did expect us, given the ****ing dire situation, to have signed more players than Villa, Everton and Watford by now. We haven’t. I dunno, big week ahead, but it looks to me like the blind leading the cucking blind. Great that Nick Hammond is earning his money like, another fantastic appointment by the board.
It is starting to frustrate me how long we’re taking. Villa seem to be just cracking on I mean seen how quick Coutinho signed. We are pissing around. Just offer the extra 5/10 million or whatever what Lille want for example. I’ve said from the start I don’t think the Saudi’s want to spend as much as we are hoping they will.
If we were acting with more urgency and professionalism they would be irrelevant. We’re still acting according to the Charnley Guide to Transfers.
I’ve always thought that. I never felt we truly were or are the “richest club”. If this was truly Saudis flexing, we’d have signed five or more already because the numbers are ****ing pennies and they like to flaunt it. Somethings off, always has been. I don’t trust Amanda Staveley one ****ing bit.
I don't share your pessimism, but I have said from day one that we are not the richest football club in the world. We are a million miles off being the richest club. We do have the richest owners but that is very very different to being the richest club. PIF are involved in 1000s of projects and we are just one of them. They are not going to sink all of their wealth, from what is an investment fund, into something that will use up money rather than create money.
But if there’s no desire to make the club high profile and successful, what’s the point? They are supposed to be after raising a profile, promoting Saudi as the next Dubai, etc.To do it via a huge global football audience comes at a cost. So what the **** are they fannying around like this for?
I do think that is their intention. And it will cost them money. The point I was making is that they will not be using anywhere near all of it. We do not have billions and billions. However, we do have millions and millions. I think they see it as a long term project rather than something they are just going to throw money at.
If you don't think this is a dick swinging contest then I think you're wrong mate. There is no ****ing way the Saudi's got involved in this to make money like an investment fund. It's a my dick is bigger than yours, My yaught is bigger than yours, my car is faster and my wife is hotter purchase.
I agree. They are not in it to make money. All I was saying is that they are not going to throw away all of their wealth doing it. It will be a massive increase on what we had before and will be enough to compete with those at the top. It won't be the amounts some people have talked about though. We don't have an unlimited pot of money. The limits will be high, but there will be limits.
It's been a ****ing mess so far this window. The fact we only 'bid' for Trippier when it opened was worrying. Why have we no deals lined up.
They will have mate and try to remember other clubs in better positions that also have money are after them too.. Then you've got the players themselves saying no
