Bristol City’s January transfer window: Four players who could be on the move next month Manager Nigel Pearson will want the chance to strengthen in the new year to boost his side’s faltering Championship prospects https://www.bristolworld.com/sport/...xodus-expected-and-buy-pressure-clear-3492412
Well it could hardly be any worse, last season we brought in nobody at all. The 4 seasons previous we brought in a total of 20 players, 3 are still with us only one gets any game time (but earn big money), the rest were worse than useless.
And I guess if you don't know your facts about your team, you never will and remember here the discussion is about the January window and your own negatives don't even hold water. Only one player was ever sold in a January window for anything approaching big money and that was Brownhill all of the rest were sold in the closed season and even that was for 2 reasons, firstly the players own ambition and secondly the managers desperate last throw of the dice to bring in a striker and of course that worked out really well? So I will go with mine and RP's version of events, it couldn't get any worse. The January window is where teams fighting near the top sign quality players to make the final push, we have never once attempted that.
And yet given all you have said, I go back to my original point, why do you think this will be any better? You made the point yourself, this is a window where managers have their desperate last roll of the dice - that hasn't changed, this is still essentially the way the Jan transfer window is viewed, so why would the potential outcome be different?
I haven't said that it would be any better, I said it certainly couldn't be any worse, which is totally different and the evidence is last January we signed nobody at all, so the only way it could be worse is if we ship players out and bring nobody in at all.
It implies if we sign nobody it’s equal to last season, if we ship out (if we can find teams take on some of our overpaid dross) and don’t sign it will be worse, it implies that we will see if SL is serious about our status in the championship.
Another striker on the list-Personally think Smith at the Millers would be a cracking signing -get it done. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/e...-blackburn-rovers-preston-circle-10-goal-ace/
