The big plus is that newcastle are looking to secure 4th so it's a better bet going with a player that has already actually demonstrated he can mix it in this league.

He can come straight in there's no gamble or risk involved...
Very true. He has something about him and I do think he is a potential asset to the club. It boils down to price for me.

Alternatively, he can stay at Everton, they get relegated, and we sign him for £15M in the summer!

Reactions: Obi Wan
I'm annoyed because in the Summer, as many said on here, we were 2 players short - an attacker and a midfielder. It's still exactly the same, so what does Nickson and maybe Ashworth think has changed?

What Howe has managed to do with Almiron & co is amazing, I doubt he was genuinely believing these players had enough to reach 3rd; I'd guess a decent cup run and 7th would be seen as success. But if we're ahead of schedule, then press on. What's Maddison worth, in this market? Reaching his prime, fantastic stats, in a position we need. Marcus Thuram, free in the Summer. Sure, they'll want big wages, but isn't that what the Saudi's signed on for? I mean, Wood was on more than 3x the wages of Willock and Longstaff, did they cry about it?

Despite claims on our spending, we are £300m shy of FFP regulation, and currently 10th highest spenders in the PL this season. Howe's performance is currently out-stripping the owners ambition. It could change in a week, but that's the truth of it.
How do you get to that £300m figure? That would mean we would have had to report a profit of nearly £200m over the preceeding 3years and I very much doubt we have.

SwissRamble said we had £400m or so a year ago. And it's what we then do over the next three years.

Possibly a moneyball type signing by Ashworth, using statistics to improve in an area where we are lacking.

Why are fans bashing him before he’s even signed, could turn out to be a cracking player in the right team. We had written big Joe off until he was Eddied. I know he seems a cnut but all good teams need a cnut or two.
You might want to look at Everton's statistics in those categories vs the other PL teams as they are ranked 20th in most of them.

I hope we're not stupid enough to sell someone like ASM in January.

Our squad depth is garbage as it is.

Shelvey is the only player that we should be realistically selling.

We really should be buying two attackers, one because we need more attacking threat, and another because if Trippier is injured, not only have we lost one our best defenders, but also our greatest creative asset. We rely so much on the right hand side to do anything.

You think Brentford fans get excited by their signings ?

Clubs have moved into the world of numbers now...

Gordon's metrics are absolutely perfect for the way newcastle play
