When I've seen Babel play his main asset is his energy and creating havoc with his runs, but his failings are missing chances.
I would have preferred if we'd been able to get Okazaki from Leicester to do this job.

After having been ordered to train with the U23s, Kamara is said to be flying out tonight for a medical with Malatyaspor. Anybody think him, Babel and Mitro would have been a swashbuckling force of pirates up front?

Medhi Benatia the new one doing the rounds after we failed to get Cahill.

Highly doubt this one would happen, I'd imagine he wouldn't be short of offers if he were to leave Juve. Possibly just a bit of a lazy link to Ranieri looking for favours from his friends in Italy.

While Kamara flew out for his medical yesterday, the rest of the squad went on their hols. Cairney, McDonald and Bettinelli flew out to Dubai on Sunday after the match. Johansen took his family off abroad as well. No gen on the rest of them. Wonder where Ranieri went !?

Ah well, with no game until next Tuesday's against Brighton thanks to going out of the Cup guess they might as well have a break. Trouble is, there will be nobody at Motspur Park for all those new signings to train with.

One who hasn't swanned off is Joe Bryan. He went to watch Fleetwood Town play Wimbldeon tonight. But not before moaning that his mate at Fleetwood had forgotten to get him a ticket and he's having to pay at the gate.

    Fleetwood won 3-0.

Do you think they were told before the cup game with Oldham, if they were not in the next round they could have time off for a Holiday ? :emoticon-0138-think

Been quiet on the transfer front for the last few days, but two new names popping up today. Antonio Valencia and Scott Dann.

Both seem surplus to requirements at their current teams but would like to think both could do a job for us. Both certainly come under the premier league experience criteria. Palace look to be after our old mate Gary Cahill, if they get him it'll pave the way for us to sign Dann.

Portuguese papers are saying we've bid £8m for Andre Almeida of Benfica.

The 28 year old is apparently fairly versatile but it's as a Right Back we want him. Stumbling blocks are Benfica wanting more money and a replacement before letting him go. With only 4 and a bit days to go those are pretty big hurdles to get over.

Martin Hinteregger has fallen out with FC Augsburg's coach. Tomorrow the 26 year old Austrian central defender could be ours ... for something like £9m.

Sky Sport say, "It's going to be a quiet day at Motspur Park".

Well, here's the up-to-date rumour list from this morning for you to tick off as they come through the door !!!

    IN

    Nordtveit of Hoffenheim
    Hinterreger of Augsburg
    Adams of Birmingham (striker)
    Aziz of Galatasaray
    Mitchell of Man Utd
    Njie of Marseille
Vida of Beşiktaş (yes, he's back in the frame)

    OUT

Kamara to Malatyaspor (an absolute banker and the only transfer worth betting your 5p on)
    Johansen to West Brom
Fosu-Mensah to Lazio (would free up a 'Premiership' loan space but probably now too late to take advantage)

TFM has apparently told the Manchester Evening News that he's turned down this new loan and in fact has previously rejected others, including an offer from Huddersfield. Since taking over,Ranieri has played him for half-an-hour.

No need to panic though, there's still 3 hours of the Window to go.

    FULHAM’S SABALY MOVE OFF

With four hours of the transfer window remaining, Fulham met Bordeaux’s £12million release clause for right-back Youssouf Sabaly, allowing the player to move to Craven Cottage.

However, Sky Sports News has learnt that despite a successful medical and repeated efforts by Fulham over four hours to make contact, Bordeaux failed to respond to any emails or phone calls from Fulham.

We understand no deal sheet has been lodged with the Premier League and as such any potential deal for Sabaly is off.

Release clauses are contractual agreements stating that if a club receives an offer of a certain amount, they have to let the player go.

The player may well have a claim for breach of contract with his club Bordeaux. However, Fulham’s efforts to sign a right-back in this window are at an end.

Looks like even when you trigger a release clause, the team that doesn't wish to sell doesn't lift the phone. We could really have done with Sabaly.

Could be wrong but weren't Bordeaux the ones that messed us around with Rolan a summer or so ago?

{Not that the player - free trip to Wimbledon and more - acquitted himself very well either.]

You have to start to wonder what lies behind the inability of our club to attract the quality of player we need.

When you look back at our history, we are viewed as a small club, and it's been the reputation of our managers that have been able to bring in players of a higher quality. I was expecting Ranieri with all his clubs to have contacts and a bit of clout to bring in players. Slav got us Mitrovic, Jol - Berbatov & he nearly got Gignac Chadli, Suarez. Hodgson - Zamora, Hangeland, Gera Duff. Even Sanchez called on his ex players and we got Hughes, Baird, Konchesky & Healy.
Has he been marginalised when it comes to the transfer market, who is in over all control ?
We've known for seasons that we need defensive players but not replaced them.

I think a lot come down to the position we are in and threat of relegation. Attracting player who want to fight the cause is limited, ask Cahill for instance. We did attract a full back but Bordeaux appear to have scuppered that, I'd be very interested to hear the story there. Bordeaux were tweeting in the final hours of the window about the players they had bought in, so they hadn't closed the office.
