Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen has confirmed that, as the rumours have suggested, his club have made an unsuccessful bid for West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison.

"It's been knocked back and we move on," he told BT Sport.

Meulensteen worked with Ravel Morrison when both were at Manchester United.

Good to see we are making moves, if anything.
 
The BT Sport interviewer pushed him a bit on whether we were going back with a bigger offer but Rene didn't really make it clear if were were going to. The move on could mean anything. What he did say was that Ali Mac was very busy working on other targets so things might move prior to the close of the window....sorry, the window slamming shut.

Apparently our bid was around £4m. Rene is quoted as saying,


‘We need to review it and move on. I left it with (chief executive) Alistair Mackintosh. I’ve explained what I think about the situation so we’ll have to see what happens,” continued the Coach.

“I make my desires clear then leave it to those people to deal with it. We will review it because I don’t know exactly the ins and outs of how it’s been rejected. (Morrison offers) youthfulness, energy, unpredictability, strength. Loads of things.”

Meulensteen said he hoped a deal could be concluded this window but added: "We all know it’s very difficult in January transfer window. Why would clubs do business early? They know the longer they wait the higher the price goes."

As Bidley said, at least we're getting in there and it's not over until the fat lady etc. etc.
 
SKy sports say you have bid for our local lad liam moore. Expect that to go tits up aswell as the morrison bid lads. £2m is nowhere near enough, its like your boss is playing career mode on Fifa 14 and getting the valuations from there.

How much do you value him for?
 
everything considered no less than £5mil would say. But I wouldn't sell him at all,we don't need the money, hes a key player, hes only 20, and hes a local lad so wont want to go yet in all likelihood anyway, only to a top club (no offence intended)

£5m? Isn't that a it steep considering since this is jhis first full season with you? Going to a top club at this age unless is a world class talend would be suicide. (No offence taken.)

I think our manager with his background at Man U has seen a lot of such "talended" players and can price them accordingly.
 
Your manager will be in trouble after revealing he has been basically tapping up Ravel Morrison.

It will take £10m to buy him anyway as that's the figure at which we either have to accept or give him a big pay rise.

What position does he play? Wikipedia has him as a right back/centre back. £5m is massive for someone that age in that position. Everton paid Barnsley £3m for John Stones, who sounds like a comparable player at a similar stage in his career.

Aside from the fee and whether or not you expect Leicester to keep hold of him, what's the lad like? What are his strengths and weaknesses?

Hes a centre back who can cover at right back, isn't as attack minded as todays right backs are, so better at centre back.
Has spent a few seasons as a fringe player here, had a few loans, but has been an integral part of our team this year, picking up a few MOTM performances. Seems to be learning alot from our Captain Morgan <ok>

He will likely have a shot next year if we reached the premier league, im not sure how he would cope, but at the moment, we have no debts and players like Moore are invaluable to our promotion push.
Pearson has stated that the first 18 are not for sale, and it looks like the DoF and Chairman are on the same page.

Thanks for the info, LeicesterWizard. Incidentally, my user name is in honour of another ex-Fox, Simon Morgan, who captained us for many lower-division years in the 90s. If you've got any more like him, we'll gladly take them off your hands.

Nothing to do with the fact that Rene knows Ravel well and has worked with him for a number of years then?

Anyway, nothing gets done about tapping up. Rodgers at Liverpool tapping up Dempsey was the most obvious and nothing was done. Nothing was done about 'Arry Bigtrapp either and he was the worst for it.
