Rather look at defenders and wingers that can cross the ball then strikers atm. The ones we had last night, had little or no support so what's the point in buying another one.
Im beginning to doubt that we really have cash to spend. We haven't spent big since ML saved our club but we have spent well. To push on to the Prem it is there for all to see that we need quality players to step up when needed, at the moment we haven't. We could bid for Messi and that would get us all excited until the bid is rejected. Do we really have plans to spend big on one or two or are we just papering the cracks? If at the end of the window we haven't signed the required players then the club can say they submitted bids , but in truth were they ever any good? I hope to god i'm wrong but the back up is not there. Its not as if it's a surprise, it has been there for all to see since early summer.
At the end of the day you either believe that Nicola has a long term plan which the club will invest in or you don't! It's worked better than any of us hoped for so far so let's give them a chance. As I've said before we should reserve judgement on transfers until 1 Feb and see where we are after the next four games. If we win a couple and draw one we will still be top 2 going into he final stretch.
In principle i agree and wish i had your'e enthusiasm! Sitting through hell at SMS last night didn't help. But NC said before the last transfer window that we didn't spend all the budget in the last window so it would roll over? Adkins tempted us all with talk of a big signing as well. I'm not talking monetary terms im talking quality ie 1.5m for sharp etc. We need bodies and quality ones. At the end of the day QUALITY COSTS you don't often stumble across a chaplow etc so we need to spend the money if we have it, either on a fee or wages. As i say i'm starting to doubt we have it. At the end of the day ML bought this club out of love for football and vowed to spend accordingly. Can his daughter say the same??
Reading what Nigel was saying after the game it looks bad for both Jos and Adam. We will have Rickie back and Jose and Chappers are close to a recall. Poor result and performance but we are still in there and will still be there or there about come February.
Maynard is far better than Connolly, Barnard and Guly as a striker, and isnt far behind Rickie. 2 mil for him would of been a great deal and much better than 7 mil + on Hooper.
The problem is that as we are not a PL team, we have to offer more to be attractive to up and coming player. Perhaps now is the moment to get an experienced fringe player from the PL...not Cortese's style but we are running out of time. Recent injuries show we are not out of the woods yet..people may be coming back but more enter the treatment room.
Lambert, fox, fonte all definitly over a million pounds. Hooiveld, de ridder, Lee, Cork and richardson all probably over 500k several could be over a million. Also several other players with six figure fees thats quite alot of money for a club which has just spent two years in league one. If the money isnt their then it isnt the end of the world as long as we live within our means. I can do without big money signings so long as we have a stable club to support.
He hasn't been his usual self this season, mainly because he was pissed off he didn't get a move in the summer, last season he was injured for the majority but still scored somthing like 10 goals in 15 games (cba to find out exactly what it was), and the season before he was one of the top scorers. I have seen him play 30+ times due to living in Bristol and having a load of mates who support City, and trust me he is very good. Probably mid table Prem quality
Also people saying we havent done anything, well weve signed two players (pretty much) along with the four in the summer thats over a half a new team. How do we know that nige didnt just plan to bring the two in and leave it at that for all we know this window went swimmingly and we got all our targets (the hooper bids were probably just to announce our interest so we can go back in summer)
