Not really a rumour more of a personal opinion but if the Hooper deal doesn't happen i think Marvin Sordell would be a great second choice. Hes young, english, cheaper and will only get better.
I still think we would have to pay 3-4 million for Sordell. Obviously he would be cheaper than Hooper though and I just can't see us paying more than 5-6 million for someone. Although if we do spend that, I will be pretty sure that Cortese knows exactly what he's doing.
Saints are going back in with another improved bid for Hooper after having £4m and £6m bids turned down! That's according to SSN at 10am this morning!
Fair enough. I don't profess to have a clue what players are on. He want's more money at Celtic, and they seem unwilling to offer him a new contract. Obviously it also depends on the amount we are offering Celtic, but the wage issue could swing it for us in Hooper's mind. Or it could force Celtic into offering him an improved contract. I doubt we will get him this January, however if we get promoted, then the Summer is a whole different ball game.
yes but will WE want him in the summer? he would be very good to help us get promoted right now and help us build upon it but if we dont get him and still go up i think we may look elsewhere. but hey you never know do you?! I would love us to sign him as taking the pressure off Rickie would be a godsend and could be one heck of a partnership. Also means that if one is injured then each could play as a focal point as they have proven to do so.
If we are looking to pay upwards of £6m now then were not looking to pay that for just 5 months, its with the view that he can not only help us get promotion but also do a good job in the Prem, after all he is only 23/24. Nigel thinks a lot of him, and must believe that he can perform in the Prem if he is looking to offer the money being suggested. However I take your point, that once in the Prem, we could potentially attract 'better' players although maybe not for the same price.

Just saw this article http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...Celtic-chasing-Charltons-Yann-Kermorgant.html I know it's the Fail so should be taken with a pinch of salt, but maybe Celtic are opening the door on Hooper with Kermorgant as his replacement.
Just hope they don't listen to this (made after the Cardiff playoff game two years ago) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iad3gV-9C1U
Cardiff Saint, its not just the Mail. Sky Sports have announced that as well, my first impression was that he would be replacing someone, purely because they haven't put a bid in but contacted the player and club. Maybe they are just waiting for Hooper to leave... Here's hoping anyway.
You have to laugh. Adkins said Puncheon is for SALE and reports say we want £1 million for him, so Blackpool then offer 600K which is rejected, but what else did they expect. And then West Ham offer him a loan deal No doubt Blackpool will come back tomorrow and offer us a lifetime supply of rock for him
Hoping for action on Hooper pretty soon...no reason behind why I think it'll be sorted today (for good or for bad), but I reckon we'll have our answer very soon....just a feeling
