Considering we got £12m (and more coming in) for Chamberlain, and we'e only spent about £1m of that on Hoivveld and Lee, I'd say we could be pretty comfortable on spending £6m on a player if he proved to be of a Premier League quality. The likes of Maynard were not worth £6m, but Hooper would definitely be worth the punt at that price.
I have a feeling that something may be going on with Hooper behind the scenes. Adkins talks about looking outside the championship (as there are no better players than we have) and doesn't give a flat no (as someone else mentioned) when Hooper was mentioned. The signing of Lee also being indicative of this. Maybe wishful thinking, but surely there's going to be some cash splashed at some point, and this guy looks mustard. Would be chuffed if we do, and maybe a wide man.
Bit more of an update on the Ben Quadinaros situation. Apparentely he's agreed terms but there are concerns with his mental status from the medical - rumours are circulating that he suffers from severe nervousness and agoraphobia and that he is weak-willed and frightened of confrontation. Not good if we want someone un-afraid to take on defenders in the Championship. Still, could work out to be a great signing for us. By the way, the rumours of Jonathan Forte being included in the Quadinaros deal have been dismissed by a source close to Adkins.
Can't have someone with agorophobia in the wide open prairie that is St Marys. Can't we just get Lee signed on dotted line before we turn our eyes elsewhere. Obviously NA/NC are looking but I refuse to get excited about another player just based on rumours. P.s. should have googled name first
I agree with the earlier post that something is going on behind the scenes with Hooper. When Adkins was asked about Delfouneso, he replied, straight out; "No". Whether something will come of it is a different matter. Anyway, best be off to work.
You seem to be plucking quite a few random names out from absolutely nowhere Greg!! Bit emanuel Rivas going on here I think!!
Hooper all the way for me. Give Celtic what they want without going overboard, 5 million sounds about right.
Just wandering the internet as you do and came across a small piece a few years ago about Cortese. He said when Pardew asked me for money for players I agreed a new target. That target was play-offs in League 1. I like everything to be clear. We all know what happened after that. I wonder what Nigel has promised.
