Only way he comes is if he wants to work with Adkins again, if not there is no chance he would move to the Championship
With Celtic they're always in europe as well. If we fail to get promoted this season, then it would defiantly be a downward step for him. But he would be a great signing don't get me wrong.
We all forget, but most footballers are family men with wives and children settled into an area. There would have to be a strong reason for unsettling your whole family and moving the other side of the country. No chance of commuting between Glasgow area and Southampton. Poor Nige is separated from his family.
If i had a choice of living in Glasgow or the sunny South Coast,i know where i would prefer to live.(apart from Portsmouth of course)
Jos remarked that he'd been told that Southampton was a tropical paradise with palm trees..so now we know what Cortese puts in his famous videos that he shows prospective players...shots of the Maldives.
That might not be his opinion. But he has had a loan spell in the south, with Orient in 2007. Maybe this is the "major signing" that the legend was talking about in his post match interview yesterday?
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/footba...-for-star-striker-gary-hooper-86908-23687713/ Would be very impressive for saints if we managed to get him!!! Shows we are still after that calibre of player though!!!
Adkins worked with him before ! We are showing some serious ambition here. Imagine him and Lambert up front.
yes would be fantastic, i am pleased we are bidding now rather than leaving it until the end of the boat where we seem to miss the boat
Would love it if he came down to the Saints but why would he when Celtic are already in the CL. The only reason we would move to the championship would be because he could earn allot more than the 10k hes on at the moment.
Any rumours about a new CB? While a striker is certainly needed, right now we only have 2 healthy CB. Certainly an area we need to strengthen I think.
Maybe. I notice he wasn`t in the Celtic squad this afternoon in the cup ! Depends on how he looks at it - could be playing at Anfield, OT etc in a few months, or could still be playing all the SPL teams 4 times a season. It would be a double whammy for me - Saints get the striker to propel us to promotion, and he stops puting Aberdeen to the sword. He`s exactly what Saints need - quick. strong, natural finisher with both feet and head. He`d take a load of Rickie, and make him even more effective. Drool. He`s a better player now than when he was with Scunny, and he was one goal every 2 games then.
