So what if Tadanari Lee doesn't cost much? That doesn't make him a bad player by default. Rickie Lambert only cost £1m, was 26 and hadn't played above League One and is now the Championship's top scorer two and half years later.
We don't have to flash the cash to show ambition. You can pick up some right bargains if you look hard enough. I think I'm just impressed by the fact that someone in the back room thought "Hey, I know what, Japan seem to be doing alright, lets have a lookie". That to me shows ambition rather than looking within the UK for an overpriced somebody.
do you know what, instead of trying to buy sensibly and sign good players for good prices, i think we should just spunk the money we have away on some average english player who scores two goals in a season, that will give everyone the right impression about our club
Woops, I forgot that transfer fees reflect how great a really player is... Andy Carroll and 'nando Torres spring to mind.
Nicola splashing the cash would make us all feel happier that we were a 'rich club' and would show all those other teams right, but is that really a good reason to throw money at players whose price has been inflated by demand and availability in Britain. Don't get me wrong I would love to get a player with known PL/Championship pedigree, but I would also love us to find a gem who really wants to play for us. Have to hope that NA, NC and the scouts get this right.
Whatever happens this transfer window lets just be thankful that SotonSaint isn't in charge of our football club.
Tadanari is on a flight over to London!! He tweeted at the airport and Goal Asia confirmed London is the flight destination. Certainly looking like this particular rumour is true.
Nope can't speak a word of english as far as I know, here's the twitter link: http://twitter.com/#!/chuntadanari
