I take it that you follow @reluctantnicko on Twitter? He seems to have overtaken that Fourth_Official guy as the 'ITK' person to follow on Twitter this transfer window. (But I guess someone had to overtake him - I think Danny Fox was the only thing he got right all of last summer).
Yeah I do, seems to know what he's talking about - Especially with Bolton and Wigan. We'll see I guess.
I notice he's also talking about some Saints-striker-related news to feature in the Sunday People tomorrow.
Danny Collins isn't an unrealistic rumour. I'd take him, experienced left footed centre back to cover Hooiveld.
Is it? Are you sure? (I don't know, I don't read it, but I didn't think it was a Scottish-only paper)
It's not Scottish, it's owned by the mirror group, hence Nixon is writing for it. Could be Hooper though, heard we made another bid (which will probably be turned down).
Doubt we will sign anyone now..not for want of trying but it's the harder window as no one wants to part with a good player unless they are desperate. More likely that we will get loans in because we can't get our targets. Love to be proved wrong.
@reluctantnicko claims Danny Collins is having a medical. Terms agreed, should be no problem and announced soon. Good signing I think. Reliable left sided centre back with enough ability to be a top Championship performer.
He's a good championship defender. Seem to remember when he went on loan to Ipswich earlier in the season their results started to pick up a bit.
A fairly regular member of the Stoke side up until this season, and a Welsh international (although I don't believe he's a first choice). Had a spell on loan at Ipswich earlier this season. Won promotion to the Premiership during his Sunderland days, and apparently was their Fans Player of the Year in both 2008 and 2009. Stoke paid about £3m for him.
Hopefully it comes off, then all we will need is a striker and that would represent a cracking window IMO.
Agreed. If this comes off, Nixon could prove to be a reliable source. He also says Saints are still after Hooper but his new agent is using Saints to negotiate a new deal at Celtic with Sharp on the backburner to come to SFC if Hooper does not happen.
That would make sense, I've had a feeling since we were after Hooper that his agent was just using us as help to get him a new deal at Celtic. I think we should just get Billy signed up before it's too late.
I agree with everything you say. Drop Hooper, if Billy is available and willing to sign for £1.5m it is an absolutely ridiculous bargain, sign him up ASAP.
That Nixon person has also said to someone else that we have bid £1.5m for an no more. That's not even his release clause. Donny waiting for us to up the bid apparently...
