Definitely not out of favour but Lazio are meant to need some money in January and he's probably their most sellable asset so rumours do make sense.

FWIW I do think we need a backup midfielder (ideally someone who counts as homegrown) and a left-footed right winger. There is still two? loan slots that we could use up as well. I do wonder if we could grab Mainoo on loan given he's still not played really at all.
To a degree yeah, I don't think they half their valuation and be that desperate when they've a fair few others they could sell if needed.

I can believe he's for sale just didn't believe the quoted 25,million basically.

I realise this might sound mad but we might actually be after 2-3 new centre midfielders:
  • Enzo is a winger now?
  • Rigg not even the squad at the weekend, can’t remember that ever happening. Perhaps a candidate to go out on loan and play regular football
  • Neil could well leave given contract situation + lack of mins
That would leave us with Xhaka, sadiki, and diarra. Obviously we wouldn’t let them all go unless we can bring in the right replacements. Could be a marquee signing, a wonderkid with physicality, and an experienced head who is happy to play a rotation role on a short term deal.

I think Riggs minutes are being managed. He was away with England for a few games as captain and scored a couple of goals. We can afford to be patient with his development.
Agree that Neil will be away in Jan.

A loan move for Rigg is an interesting shout

Championship side going for automatic promotion?

Think I’d keep him here then assess in the summer, he’s so young he’ll be fine being drip fed in this season, hopefully we have a run in the fa cup so share out minutes (que playing the 21s and getting knocked out against Barnsley infront of 10k) :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Was hoping he’d get a PL move in January. Serious talent

Makes sense, signed a two year deal so is a free agent in the summer anyway, is an overage player and now the 4th choice keeper, he has probably done his job in terms of being a part of the keeper pool but realistically has no chance of ever being a Premier League keeper.

AFCON will likely shine a light on exactly where we're weak, Dan Neil and Dennis Cirkin likely to get minutes and they will get the chance to show if they're good enough or not, wouldn't at all be surprised to see both either: A. sign new long term deals after showing they can step up or B. shipped out on the cheap in January or completely frozen out for the remainder so they can leave on frees.

I find it strange that he’s been playing for the 21s in a couple of games. Doesn’t make much sense to me…

Odd one but he was very good at Feyenoord. Potentially locks in our support in Mexico as well. Mayenda would have to go out on loan though.
