Chris Sutton acting like a twat. Saying Defoe should push for a move to W. Ham. Why would he want to stay.

Todays echo.

I believe this is the one job Margaret Byrne did correctly whilst employed at SAFC. He cannot go. He's contract is watertight where he cannot ask for a transfer and I cannot imagine us selling him.

Why did JD take the penna's against Liverpool when Fabio is our recognised, dedicated penalty taker? Football suicide if we sell JD.

He scored them so what does it matter? And probably because he's scored the past 3/4 for us?

Apart from that he can do what the hell he likes in my eyes as long as he's still ours on Feb 1st.

Oh I agree Giacc just strange. They had a bit of a set too for the 1st one and I just wondered why?

Sunderland AFC transfers: Turkish club enquire about Black Cats star Wahbi Khazri
Fenerbahce have asked about the availability of Sunderland's Wahbi Khazri, according to reports in Turkey

Wahbi Khazri of Sunderland

Sunderland midfielder Wahbi Khazri could be reunited with Jeremain Lens - with reports in Turkey claiming Fenerbahce have made an enquiry about the Tunisian.

The Black Cats’ financial situation means they are unlikely to add to their squad during the January transfer window without offloading any significant assets.

Khazri arrived on Wearside in a £10 million move from Bordeaux last January, and played an integral part in the club’s successful battle against relegation.

But since David Moyes replaced Sam Allardyce, he has figured less prominently, with the Scot having on more than one occasion bemoaned the player’s tendency to lose possession.

As such, the 25-year-old has started just six games this season, two of them in the EFL Cup. He has made 13 appearances in total, but has yet to score this season.

And reports in Turkey suggest Fenerbahce have enquired about the possibility of signing a player contracted to the Stadium of Light until 2020 on an 18-month temporary deal.

The Yellow Canaries already have Sunderland outcast Lens on a season-long loan, with the Dutchman having scored three goals and made eight in 13 games in the SuperLig.

Tunisia international Khazri is currently on international duty ahead of the African Cup of Nations.

5m bid from W. Ham for Defoe<laugh>

Rejected.

Cheeky bastards.

In the echo.
They are that - unfortunately I suspect they'll be back.

I read somewhere that if we are relegated then there is a clause in Defoe's contract that says he can go for free in the summer which may have the clubs bean counters thinking that we are better off cashing in now. Lets hope Davie gets his on way and doesn't have to defer to some knob in a suit who knows more about balance sheets than football.
