I see your point but Simms is a number 9, Gelhardt isn’t. Effectively we had 2 number 9’s, now we have none.

I think we’ve done great with our forward thinking and bravery going for young players but the forward situation has a lot to be desired.

Yeh you are right in that regard. I meant more in terms of we had Stewart and Simms, then Simms went and we had Stewart and Gelhardt. Now Stewart has gone its him that needs replacing. But I hear what you're saying re: positions on the pitch.

I have to say those thinking any old plodder will do are wide of the mark in my opinion. If that is true there are loads of free agents that fit the bill that we can sign tomorrow. I have no doubt Mowbray has no interest in a plodder, or anyone who can jump. But maybe we will sign one of these freebies tomorrow and I will be proven wrong

Having plenty of available nails, wood and felt but failing to build a shed is a failure.

Being messed around by the wood suppliers, having the wrong nails delivered and being asked an absolute fortune for felt may mean you have to carry on using the shed you have ...

... but it doesn't mean you're a failure.

As long as the old shed is waterproof and has a good lock, so you don't have your golf clubs stolen, you just have to get on with things and wait for the next delivery.

Only been waiting 2 year for a striker mate. Think that's a long time in football and questions are rightly being raised.

Opportunity missed most definitely here.

Why do people I insist on saying 9 or a 10, he is a striker, we generally only play 1upfront anyway. We need another Striker in, but if we don't get 1 then we just get on with it

Of course we will but that will be a poor show on speakman and the recruitment team.

I'm not so bothered about the "no permanent striker in 2 years" chat. If we keep signing loan players that are doing the job, its fine. I'd have been happy enough with two loan players now to see the season out.

Clearly not ideal. But we shouldn't fixate on not having permanent signings. Stewart is very clearly our main man. Would be nice to have some succession planning longer term.

Opportunity to do what,? Just because we haven't signed a striker doesn't mean the season is going to fall apart.

When we played with a 10 instead of a 9 last time we won 1 on 8 and were bottom of the form table. The second Simms come back we picked up the pace and looked immediately better.

Mustn’t feel confident about our chances for playoffs this season then. Ah well, fair enough.

Onto next season we go.

If any old plodder will do… then there’s no panic is there? Just sign some free transfer plodder tomorrow. Sorted - promotion charge is back on track!!

Bang on. I can’t believe it tbh. Really frustrating.
