Can't see us signing anyone who isn't expected to develop into a PL standard player, or an older head who is already upper Championship or better.
If they want £5 million, with Jack thrown in to sweeten the deal, that would leave us with only £4,900,000 to pay
Clarke Harris is ****e. 12 goals last season, I’m sure half of them were penalties and pretty much all of them against bottom half teams. Half decent league one striker in his prime. Not even worth £500k never mind £5m.
Don't buy into the Clarke Harris link at all.
Firstly, he doesn't fit the recuitment plan whatsoever, he'll be 29 next summer and we'd have to pay a fee. Can't see that. Also, hes not amazingly prolific at this level. Twelve goals is a canny return, but we could get similar out of a loan who isn't going to cost a couple of million quid. We've said we want young players with sell on value, the couple of million quid is highly likely to turn into any sort of profit as he rolls towards 30.
We've seen this **** previously from Peterborough, we've been linked with Clarke-Harris before and they used to peddle the same about Maddison every window too. Its McAnthony's way of trying to drum up interest in his players, I'd wager JCH is coming to the end of his deal and they're trying to get a fee while they can.
To conclude - a pap link with absolutely nothing to it. We can and will do better on players we can bring in and develop and then have a significant sell on value.
