Would love this to be the case, very refreshing if true
I think Ross' Dad was his agent in his early days and given where he's come from and how quickly his stock has risen I'd assume he's not linked to one of these super agents who appear to do all of the thinking and talking on behalf of their clients. He seems like a grounded lad and don't rule out the fact that in this case, geography is on our side - there's a reason a lot of Scots have played for NE clubs over the years

Rossco is from Irvine which is the next town from me, up here in Ayrshire. I live in Troon.

My sister in law actually met him a couple of months ago in a hotel, and got his autograph for my son and said he was so normal and polite. He was with his dad.
He is always playing golf up here, and his folks still live in Irvine.

Geography has to be a factor, given Sunlun is only 3ish hours away from his family.

Aye, we have had a fair few Scottish and Irish players over the years. I'm sure this was mentioned by Speakman a while back when they were looking at historically successful safc sides.

Didn't someone do a list of Scottish players in the team every year back to Jesus a year or two ago? Incredible sequence and obviously down to more than just chance

I really doubt we announce Stewart contract today. Not when tomorrow is Friday ;)

but in all seriousness as much as the evidence is looking positive, I’m still feeling pessimistic. I’m not sure tactically why he’d sign something during the window, at a time where a potential premier league move is possible. Clubs like Everton are one more injury away from panicking and bidding big for him in both salary and fee.

If he truly wants to stay and not move to premier league then that’s another thing. Which would be amazing.

If there isn't a good move for him, he should, even from a selfish perspective, DEFINITELY sign a new deal here.

No one knows the numbers, but Stewart's is an old contract with a promotion bonus. He will have been offered considerably more, and turning it down at his age and at his career stage runs the risk of one bad injury meaning he never gets that "keep out of the factory for life" deal.

If his agent is telling him to hold off he is a ****house who is thinking of himself rather than the player, and nowt new there.

that’s what I mean tho - if there’s not a good deal for him right now, there might be one on 31st january. About 5 premier league clubs are a striker injury away from a panic.

If I was him I’d wait until 1st February to sign anything, no harm in waiting. There’s no immediate need to sign a contract here, other than to allow our club to plan properly.

If he’s so loyal and committed to us he wants us to be able to plan properly in the window, then at that point he could and should sign now. But if there’s any part of him that fancies a move to the PL this window, he’s best waiting.

As others have said, you could argue he’s best waiting until the summer anyway. As most of the clubs he’d join are in dire straights as it is. And the more goals he scores this season, the bigger that contract will be eventually.

so if he and his agent have decided that even if he does move, now isn’t the right time, then I agree signing the contract right now makes sense

Mowbray: I'd like a striker in as soon as possible. We need reinforcements. Ellis [Simms] has gone back, and Ross [Stewart] is our only striker. [HASHTAG]#safc[/HASHTAG]

@JHunterChron
Mowbray: I think we need a young guy, like Ellis [Simms], who can come in and compete and who can learn off Ross [Stewart]. How quickly can that happen? I hope in the next few days but that might not happen. I know the club is working really hard. [HASHTAG]#safc[/HASHTAG]

@JHunterChron
Mowbray: We're having discussions with various clubs about various players, and we'll see which ones are dropping. [HASHTAG]#safc[/HASHTAG]

@JHunterChron
Mowbray: I'm confident [Stewart will still be here at the end of the month]. I don't think the phone is ringing off the hook at the moment. [HASHTAG]#safc[/HASHTAG]

Mowbray confirms Jordan Willis has left [HASHTAG]#safc[/HASHTAG] .
He had been doing his rehab on Wearside following his serious knee injury suffered in February 2021

@JHunterChron
TM: He had an option to go and train at Forest Green

Would like to see Jordan play again. He was an excellent centre back but he had some horror injuries. Pleased the club have looked after him.
