We have options, if it was any position you’d want to lose a player you’d probably say CM because we’re stacked - just rather it wasn’t Evans! I’m sure we’ll manage fine, what Ekwah will clearly lack in experience he’ll make up in physicality over Evans. Could end up seeing more of a 3 in the middle if we’re getting overwhelmed and just playing without a proper 10 in certain situations with Diallo and Roberts/Clarke wide of Stewart. Ekwah/Ba, Michut and Neil in the middle.
Depends on the opponents. Playing a deeper 3, without a 10 might isolate Stewart more, or make him drop deeper without anyone moving ahead of him.

If I had to guess, I think we will try and get Lewis Travis from Blackburn. Is their club captain but has been dropped recently and hasn’t started since mid December. Started all but one game for Mowbray last season
Buckley was linked too but thought he was ****e on Boxing Day, could just be an off day like

This keeps coming up in various posts. Gooch missed one game in the previous 2 seasons, and played 30 games the one before that. I don't think he deserves the tag "injury prone" just yet.
Feels like he's had loads of niggly injuries in the last few season. He's on his 3rd injury this season - missed 6 games before the WC, cam back for 4 games, got injured again on Boxing Day - out for 4 more games, back for Swansea game and out again.

So, maybe harsh, but on current form he cannot be relied on to be available for the rest of the season

People may not be surprised to hear me say this because of my love of Dan Neil but this is in my opinion the most important contract the club need to sort out. More than Stewart even. I think he has the highest ceiling of any of our own players right now and in 2/3 years could be anything. He is playing in the toughest area of the pitch to play and is just getting better and better.

Premier clubs are watching, and more than a couple. Selling in the summer would be selling low. Another 2 years and we may not be able to hold him back as he will be top end premier league, but that will be selling high. Could well have England recognition by then as well.

All of this on top of the value of having academy lads in your first team - that is a huge benefit to our future.

He's slowly becoming the player we all hoped he would mate.
Think he's found a manager who can develop him.
Whatever we got for him now you could treble in a couple of years time.

It certainly feels like Diallo has had more of a direct impact as his goals tally suggests, but look at the game time each player gets. On minutes played, Roberts actually comes out on top in …..Give him more minutes.

Roberts has played 50% of EFL minutes, starting 50% of games
@ 28 games, that’s 1,260 minutes played
So 1 contribution every 180 minutes

Diallo has played 68% of EFL minutes, starting 64% of games
@ 28 games, that’s 1,714 minutes played
So 1 contribution every 214 minutes

Diallo played the full 90 of the FA Cup bagging a goal. Roberts also played the full game with no goals/assists.

including the FACup Diallo at 1:200 minutes, Roberts at 1:192

I hope Roberts has the bit between his teeth when facing his old club on Saturday…

I may have given the wrong impression, but yes I do think Roberts is one of the most talented players we have. My point is that I reckon he does not deliver commensurate with his ability.
Early on in the season he scored two cracking goals cutting in from the left using his left foot. Then he started several games and it was below par (for him performances). That's the problem.

Clarke is talented also talented, probably less than Roberts but he over delivers (perhaps), Roberts under delivers for what he is capable of.
