The forum will get very boring if we just comment on what we know for certain (especially with us lot <laugh>)....I don't particullary want everyone to sign on in the morning and post "I don't know anything concrete so I'm not going to post at all today". You can't expect the plebs amongst us (me included) to think in purely "business" terms Dave, we're footy fans discussing our team/club. If we wanted to discuss the ins and outs of the definition of "a budget" we'd be posting on the not606 Financial Times board <whistle>

The fact that we've been discussing the "possibility" that buying Sakho and Ilori in the summer might have impacted the Jan "budget" shows we already know that "budgets" (in the simple terms that we see them) are flexible and not set in stone.

No one has claimed definite knowledge of things one way or another (we leave that to Hash, Sky's window cleaner and RHC's reporter) but there's no reason for us NOT to speculate on how much we may or may not have to spend in the window and the reasons why we may or may not spend it <ok>

For goodness sake! I was just pointing out that budgets weren't fixed. I haven't claimed any insider knowledge. I haven't accused any other poster of claiming such knowledge. Speculation and comment is that we have to oil the flow.

Oh sod it! I'm going for a pint

If we fail to sign anyone in the window do you think we may slip away from top 4/5?

Our squad is very thin in numbers and quality and with mounting injury problems I fear that we will not cope. Midfield is a major concern. With Lucas out we are reliant on Gerrard, Henderson and Allen, 2 of whom have pretty poor fitness records. Who comes in if one is injured?

Both full back positions are weak ( not sure when Enrique is back ) relying on cissokho and Johnson is a recipe for disaster. We have shown we can cope without Sturridge but it's those behind that should be our main concern. With salah opting to warm the bench for the chavs surely we must concentrate on DM and at least one fullback. Signing no one, for me, is not an option as without CL the chances are Suarez will go.

If we don't sign a CM/DM, I think we will unfortunately.

club must be working ****ing hard behind the scenes surely.

if not, sorry but time for Ayre to move on or stop being involved in transfer deals any way, as he pisses about too much.

M villa and Tello(maybe) those are the deals going through i reckon <ok> what about everyone else?

More from Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, who is asked about the club's interest in Basel's 21-year-old Egypt winger Mohamed Salah and says: "We are looking at a number players. I'm not going to go into names. He is a talented player but for us it is just a case of seeing who we can bring in to help the squad."

We won't get 4th without a quality CDM!

If we don't sign one it probably means Rodgers hasn't learnt the lesson Villa taught us.

Or we have no money <ok>

Then sell Aspas, Borini... stopped wasting wages on Moses and Cissoko... send 'em home.

Use Allen as a make-weight.

We're talking about Goalkeepers and Salah... use the money earmarked for them on a CDM instead.

The money is there if not currently in the CDM envelope.

I assume loan contracts are like any other, you can't just change your mind when something better (or worse) comes along. Soooo...

Stuck with Moses and Cissoko as we agreed to take them otherwise for example all Chelsea's whinging would have actually been a demand to return him.

Sunderland won't part with borini due to recent form but won't buy out fully due to precarious league position.

Use Allen as a make weight? And still be left short of numbers while gambling on another new signing?

Who would buy Aspas if he's as bad as you think he is?

If it was that easy we'd be doing this lark from this thread lol..
