Mata is worth 35 imho, Donkey Fellaini wasn't worth 27,
I would have liked us to bid for Mata, I have to say - I think other than being very skilled (and tested in the PL) he is also versatile and can play on the wings as inside forward as well as CAM
 
Getting a bit nervous with the window winding down. We already needed CM re-enforcement and with Lucas down, we certainly need it! ( Let's learn from KK mistake on that one please!). IF United do get Mata and say Dante, you just know they will come roaring back. Spurs starting to gather pace too. I just hope that the owners see that it is no where near a comfortable 4th place position and we need to do what we can to ensure we get that spot.

We have some favorable games/location of games in the spring and if we made a proper signing this window, especially at CM and possibly RB/LB that would do wonders for the belief and mentality that we have the players to keep pushing on for fourth.

We cannot rely on Gerrard, Allen, Hendo to get us fourth. That midfield will not be able to handle it.
 
i find this madness personally and chavski will live to regret it. there is no doubt in my mind that they will... not sure how utd will realign to make use of him but i expect them to not play 4-4-2 any more (i.e two wide men)

rooney and mata behind rvp? i reckon rooney will freak myself if asked to go left side again even just in defending.

thier next buy must be a cm then...

well we;ve been heavily linked today with Salah again (Metro now running it again tonight) but tbh he's not what we need and it doesn't really excite me. £10million the latest figure

Think that player can wait as we are still scoring loads of goals. We need steel in the middle and tighten the back four, tighten the gap between mids and backs, be able to have some penetration through the middle too.

I agree with this. as much as I'd like to see us have more options in attacking areas so that we can change a game using the bench if required, it is not the most important area. Lucas' injury just highlights what we've all been saying for not just the last couple of months but the last couple of seasons; we need more quality and depth in the middle. If we have a £20m budget, blow the ****ing lot on a quality CM that can defend!
 
Imo Mata is worth 35mil in todays market. I wouldn't want to go higher - but 35mil for a 25 year old quality PL proven player is worth it.
 
£35million in todays market is pretty good value. I'd say even £40million is a good deal for all parties.

Agree! We ideally need FB's as well but look at the £22m we spent on Alberto, Aspas And Ilori and you'll see what you get from spreading your money too thinly. Rafa suffered in a similar way. Time to seriously open that check book John!!! <ok>
 
anyone actually think Chelsea will sell to them, bit odd he has been voted the fans player of the season 2 seasons in a row, but i guess fans opinions don't matter now days do they.
