It's only the 9th of Jan but this could be the funniest rumour of the whole window:

Lille club president Michel Seydoux has warned off Premier League interest for Ivorian attacker Salomon Kalou, 28, by saying an 87m euro bid for him would "maybe" be considered.

What...the...****??? <doh> Crystal Meth reaches Lille.....

ah good for him.

I am kind of glad cos he's got a legendary status, he's real career and champion league and 2009 for us has seen to that. he can turn up at anfield and be lauded whenever.

you can only ruin that by turning up old and aging in front of us. never go back they say.

Same for masch i think.

Hopefully we can buy well, targeting players who are better than what we've got NOT a "squad player" whose actually worse than lucas...

There's further speculation today that Liverpool could make a move for Croatian defender Sime Vrsaljko.

The 21-year-old Genoa right-back has been mooted as possible target after Liverpool scouts were clocked watching him a few months ago.

His agent Nikky Vuksan claims his client isn't looking for a move and says it's up to Genoa as to whether or not he moves on.Speaking recently, he said: "Playing for Genoa is an honour for him and he's very happy here. Will he leave in January or June? It's hard to say now because it's up to the club."Inter Milan and Arsenal have also been linked with the £12million-rated player who can also play in the centre of defence or on the left.

we seem to be linked to a lot of youngsters lately, we need players for the team now, not potential for the future.

he good enough to walk in to the team now?

LFC need to adopt the following policy.

1. is this player a youth for the academy? OR is this player clearly an improvement on our first team.

2. Are the wages right

3. Is the fee right.

If you don't fulfil all 3 you do not buy.

Aspas would never meet these criteria, conversely it could be argued borini and allen probably did at the time...

Rakitic, banega and MAYBE montoya fit these criteria... other names are less clear. I don't see salah being clearly better than a front 3 of coutinho sturridge and suarez. I don't buy squad filling. relegate on of these to the bench not fill the bench with undeveloped talent wh othen can't develop.

this is my two cents today anyway.

Rakitic is better than lucas IMO, certainly better than allen.

Montoya covers off future needs as jonhson could go. replace one with another . I don't think hes better than johnson though.

Montoya set up Messi's first last night... Don't think we have a hope unfortunately!

EDIT: We should bid £87,000,000.01

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger is paying little attention to transfer gossip in the middle of what could be a productive season. Former Reds boss Rafa Benitez, now in charge of Napoli, has been linked with an approach for the Danish centre-half.
"I've only seen what the papers say and I can't really do anything about it. There is no reason to believe these rumours."

Liverpool have allowed promising full-back Ryan McLaughlin to join Barnsley on a 28-day loan agreement.

@LFC
#LFC can confirm Ryan McLaughlin has joined Barnsley on an initial one-month loan: liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-ne… http://pbs.twimg.com/media/BdiKjgzCYAAWN-Y.jpg

28 day loan seems a bit pointless?

Anyone think we should test the water with Lamela and the Spuds?

Speaking to a Spurs mate, that would be a waste of time, he claims Lamela is home (from home) sick.. he wants to go back to Italy.
Mate claims he heard at the time of the transfer that he never wanted to leave, it was just the case that when the Spuds threw loads of money at Roma, they couldn't say no.

Fair enough, there's talk of a loan though so they'll only end have having the same problem next season.
