see your point, but if we was going down that route, there would have been better players we could have got if that was the case surely. Schneider,Honda,Turan etc.
True. My over riding view is I simply think he's no where near good enough to improve our current starting 11, and that's what we need to be doing - rather than buying bench warmers. I'd take Turan
that was my point enricky, think he has done yes. he would have had huge marketing potential in Asia.
salah, assiadi, moses... there's a trend here. i'd rather a mkhitaryan or willian link again. that i hope showed balls.
I know it's the Mirror so obviously take it with a pinch of salt - BUT http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/hughes-liverpool-agree-first-option-2975851
esp with how thin we are at the moment. imagine if we had Sterling and Honda either side of Luis, with Stevie,Lucas and Coutinho behind, or either Allen or Henderson i suppose. that for me would give the opo something to think about.
meh.... imagine if we had sturridge coutinho and suarez playing.. put a real midfield and then actually pick toure rather than skertl at the back... pick reina don't send him to coventry... buy a top midfielder... As long as we continue to add GOOD players and stop wasting our time with the likes of aspas and moses and assiadi and the like (allen too) improvement overall but the bargain basement is still there. aspas and ilori confuse me... shako, coutinho, sturridge improved us greatly. mingolet is a good signing, just not as good as reina... but we are now looking at a bench we don't want to pick from against the top teams... so whats the point? Aspas, borini and the like end up clogging us up and we ned up having to shift them... we still need to do better by just pausing and asking me would i... now zingy would but i am picky.
Definitely, although if we didn't have anywhere near as much injuries to the first team we probably wouldn't be talking about how thin our squad is as much. We don't have the financial backing of Chelsea or City so we can't afford to have a really strong back up 11. I do hope that we strengthen in the window though
Seems to influence a lot of games without getting goals and assists - quite like Willian in that regard. Obviously he'd have to step it up here though. Coutinho's stats couldn't be great either but we know he adds a fluency to our play, and a fear factor for some fullbacks. EDIT: Thinking about Milan... not sure if El Sharawaay is worth it. Would cost £20m+, very talented but nothing like he was last season. Maybe a victim of Milan's form but he was meant to be a star player. De Sciglio seems set for big things, very versatile player. Would take Montolivo in a heartbeat.
That might well be the case, but the Swiss league is extremely poor from what I've seen. Even you Yoda with your special forces could influence games…. If we can get him cheap he might be worth a punt, but to me I just think he'll end up another Assiadi (sp?) Buy - Loan - waste wages - sell for a loss (crystal ball).
Salah could be a good player. It's not just in the Swiss league, I've watched him play in the CL against some of the supposed top clubs in Europe and he's a sharp player. He's like Sterling, but with more skill on the ball and a more mature head. Lightning pace and likes to run past his man but cut inside to support the forward. I think people just equate relative unknowns to the others we've had and write them off before the sign. Whereas big money links must be worthwhile and are exactly what we need; Willian was a let down, wasn't he? A fair few people wanted him despite never seeing him play... I rate Rodgers and the transfer committee's choices in the end; they pass up on players if they're not worth it (Papadopolous with injuries, Willian way over priced) and have a good eye for talent at a suitable price, whether they end up here or not (Costa, Mkhitaryan, Coutinho, Sturridge and Sakho). Obviously it's youtube and all the best parts are pulled, but you can see alot of what he's about - including that tendency to do a little bit too much at times. 7mill? Got to be worth a punt at that price. 15mill and we'd walk away, almost certain.
Well said. Salah is actually quite highly rated around Europe and he's only 20. He is nothing like Assaidi and Aspas in terms of reputation and potential. For £7-10m, I think he could be an absolute bargain. EDIT: If we do get him, I suspect Moses will go back to Chelsea. Salah is a hard worker off the ball as well and is also versatile. The encouraging thing as well is he has good experience - playing for the best team in Switzerland (it may be a weak league but at least he has that winning mentality that goes with playing for a 'big' club), around 30 caps for his country and is already one of their best players, and he has also impressed in the Champions League.
meh.. i'll believe you but only til is see him play for us if he signs... pace = good, need physical presence to go with it and most of all need a brain.
