ONLY THE EVIL POST COULD COME UP with something like this … will give them20k reads! lol but not mine
Each year 6 new teams enter the championship. each year 3 that came down all have it mind to go straight back up and the 3 coming up hope to at least stay in it. in the previous season 3 made it to top and expect to make it this time so that's top 6 ...NO .. BECAUSE 3 or 4 teams were planning and had worked toward being involved also so assume another 4 and you have 10 teams "up for it" the only time GD makes a difference is at the end of the season when you may be level on points with 1 or more teams.. so currently City are 10th!!!! STOKE ARE 14TH 3 wins away or 9 pts from 6th ………. worthy of changing the manager, 3rd in 12 months! ? a new rebuild is on the cards and that might take 2 seasons as opposed to maybe 1!?
https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport.../bristol-city-complete-signing-winger-2408270 Kasey Palmer confirmed. Says he's a wide player, but I thought he was more central?! If there's an area we're well covered in, it's wingers!
So who is being dropped to play this guy surely he ain't coming to sit in the reserves or on the bench. Or is a player or players off as apparantly another midfielder and striker are coming in.
That's a good question - can't see Pack or Brownhill being shifted, O'Dowda seems to have a spot sewn up for the minute too, with Eliasson a bit unlucky to not be getting more game time. I suppose maybe he could start on the right wing, with a view to bringing Weimann back centrally to replace Paterson as a support to Diedhiou, or maybe Palmer goes straight into centre attacking mid? Time will tell - maybe we'll see a bit more rotation to make sure players don't burn out.
According too his talk he wants to play behind the strikers central, exactly where i said Taylor should play. “My preferred position is playing centrally behind the striker, in an attacking role and hopefully create and score goals to help the team go and reach the play-offs.
From that it sounds like he & LJ have spoken and that's the role he is intended for. We've had all of Weimann, Taylor & Paterson do OK there, but there's probably scope to expect more goals from that role, be it directly or assisted by, so would be interested in seeing whether he can add that extra dimension. Brownhill may well be able to prosper in that position too I reckon as he's got a good shot on him. If/when Smith returns to fill in at centre mid it may be worth trying...
Blackburn fans talking about this. The consensus seems to be that he couldn’t get a look-in because of Dack. https://www.brfcs.com/mb/index.php?/forums/topic/33646-january-transfer-window/&page=83
He’s a central midfielder in the Paterson role. He played more as a winger due to Dack at Blackburn. Blackburn fans don’t rate him, Derby and Huddlesfield played him central rated him highly.
No doubt that Dack is a great talent, though I think he has a fondness for the nightlife. For his own sake I hope he keeps it in check & he may even be able to make the England squad at some point.
To be quite honest I think if Taylor played in the whole behind two strikers would be the way to go LJ has not played him in that role.It will be interesting to see if he gives this role to the new guy
Not behind two strikers he won't. If Taylor is too inflexible to fit into the 4-5-1 cum 4-3-3 or 4-4-1-1 then maybe he's not fit for purpose? He's shown glimpses, but not enough to justify regular selection ahead of others, certainly in terms of scoring goals which is supposed to be his forte.
Agree Nick with the lack of goals, however do you really deep down think he has been given the time and regular football to step up. Clearly a very good football brain and causes defenders all sorts of problems.
I think he's been given decent enough opportunity, taking into account the various injuries he's suffered that's kept him out of the team. The issue with saying one player should get more chances is that you need to decide who makes way to allow that, and with Taylor, there isn't an obvious candidate where you'd say 'Taylor should definitely be starting ahead of him'. I'm never disappointed to see his name on the team sheet, but neither am I disappointed if he doesn't even make the bench. He's decent enough to be a squad player, with his footballing brain good enough to make up for average physical qualities, but I don't see him ever likely to be much more than that and I think most of us would have other players ahead of him more often than not. I think in all likelihood he'll be sold to a League One side at some point, maybe even this coming summer, depending on who might come in.
