LJ said ~ Q . You said after the game on Sunday about possibly tweaking the squad in January if necessary, will the club look to bring in a Milan Djuric-style 'plan B' player? A. 'I think it's an option [having Milan] that we've lost. Listen, Milan was a great guy but unfortunately he had a torrid time with injuries and it definitely affected his mobility. And it's all well and good having a big man, but the way we play in the Championship - we want a big man that's got mobility as well. Yeah, there are many different options like the partnerships of Quinn and Phillips, or Reid and Diedhiou... or whoever you want to talk about that have been successful as a duet, if you like, but you have to try and get the balance. Or we might not be able to bring in a striker because he's not available or affordable or accessible and so we might have to adapt and bring in a very good attacking midfielder or a wde-man or whatever we deem fit to adjust the balance and give us that little bit of sparkle.'
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly monitoring Lloyd Kelly's progress, but have a number of rivals for his signature. https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/12/...g-bristol-city-starlet-lloyd-kelly-arsenal-k/
Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are also interested in Kellly and Southgate rates him. https://thisisfutbol.com/2018/12/blogs/tottenham-in-hunt-to-sign-bristol-city-defender-kelly/
Bristol City coach explains how the club are preparing for the January transfer window It is just 18 days until the transfer window opens A huge proportion of Bristol City’s coaching staff’s time is being dominated by recruitment research ahead of the upcoming January transfer window it has been revealed. Asked how much attention the Robins coaching staff are giving to recruitment with the transfer window 18 days away, assistant head coach Jamie McAllister said: “Loads. We have got a load of players to watch and we are constantly having recruitment meetings. “It has been like that the last couple of months, recruitment is always ongoing, we are always looking to strengthen and improve. “With the window coming round it intensifies naturally but the analysis team and the scouts are always doing their work so we get constant reports and updates on players that we are looking at. “We have got a whole scouting network to find players who fit our philosophy, we identify the areas we want to strengthen, and what are key positions we might want to strengthen in the window and then the gaffa looks at videos, we look at videos, we will sit down [and discuss it] and at the end of the day it is the gaffa’s decision. “It is a long in depth process.” https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/bristol-city-coach-explains-how-2322585
I will answer that question with the likelihood that they will come from France or Rochdale, but wherever they originate I hope we make some right decisions in transfer window #6.
Whatever happens I think it will be the last for Lee, unless he can pull rabbits out of a hat. Perhaps someone has a spare copy of the manager's magic book he can borrow on a one-time basis.
The silliness of transfer fees boggles my mind, especially in January, and common sense disappears out the door. Paying over the odds for players who have about as much dedication to their employer as players like Pogba and Sanchez doesn't make any sense to me and makes me ask - why bother? The game has morphed in to a world of greed and personal gratification fed by unscrupulous agents who feed the media lies about their client's wishes and aspirations, when in reality their only interest is self centred greed.
