Interesting

15:14 GMT: Corrie Dello Sport have reported that Liverpool target Modibo Diakite doesn't want to renew his contract with Lazio, and is therefore waiting for the Premier League club to come in for him.

So Premier League club in for Sneijder?

Sneijder likes money and being the highest profile player around.

I can think of one team who would see that as win win.

Good to talk about it but maybe show that we still can, eh Ayre?

Just seen all the articles from Bozz and this and just think, why would you talk about this when all you have to do is go and get a Sneijder, Negredo, Isco, Eriksen that shows real intent.

  9. True, talk suggests he is short of things to do too <ok>

PS...I thought you meant the playing side above <ok>

  13. The wording I heard was "Blackpool refuse to answer Brendan Rodgers' calls". This to me suggests the story is bollox since it would not be Rodgers that rings, it would be Ayre! By not taking the call it simply means the receptionist isn't putting it through to the right person.

"We remain a world class club and a world class attraction to players."

but we seem to be mainly targeting players under a certain age? which we all know usually means cheaper and lower wages.

certainly in full swing with the pr spin on things, if we target Erickson etc, young, lots of talent etc, then maybe we could say we are still a world class attraction, but all i have seen is the wages reduced and mainly targeting younger cheaper players with potential, going for someone like Erickson etc will show we have ambition and intent, but i doubt that is the way we are heading sadly, just sounds like a spin to me.

Liverpool have launched an audacious £8 million bid for Inter Milan’s Brazilian youngster Philippe Coutinho.

But the Merseyside club may have to go beyond their initial offer to secure a player once considered the next superstar of South American football.

Brendan Rodgers has been monitoring the young midfielder's situation in Italy, where he has fallen out of favour recently.

After becoming increasingly frustrated in efforts to sign Thomas Ince from Blackpool, whose club would not budge on a valuation in excess of £6 million, Rodgers instead turned to the 20-year-old attacker who has already played for the senior Brazilian side.

Coutinho would fit the bill as the prototype signing of Liverpool's owners Fenway Sports Group, as a young and emerging international talent.

Club chairman Tom Werner is currently on Merseyside ahead of the weekend’s Premier League fixture with Norwich and spent Friday in discussions about January business.

    What about this then?
