If we're counting Walton as McKennas signing I would made my earlier count to 2 players who'd I'd argue he's signed who have been a big success. I dont feel I'm being harsh on McKenna's transfer dealings at all, I just feel its an area where the jury is still out, I don't feel he's made any bad signings but apart from Davis (and Walton) out of his 10 signings who are still at the club he's the only one who has cemented a first team place and played at a consistently high level. Some of those players have been injured, others have been brought in as back up and many of those might make it but for me that's why the jury is still out on his transfer dealings.
As for the strikers, they may well have alot of potential and go on to be really good players for us but on paper I'd argue we looked stronger in the striking positions last season.
Sorry PTC don't see that at all, last season we had Bonne, The Pig, Jackass and Nogood, that's piss poor imo!!
Anyhooo i was replying more to this, you are saying here that Bonne,The Pig, Jackass and Nogood look better on paper than Hirst, Broadhead, Ladapo, ahadme and Jackass. I don't agree but as mentioned before, it's all about opinions!!
I think Ladapo is okay and looked pretty decent on paper but he's probably our most complained about player this season? Let's face it the others are pretty unproven. Last season pretty much all our strikers were proven goal scorers at this level. What we've got now might turn out to prove themselves but we've bought potential. All I'm saying is we've let go a relatively experienced strike force last season who had proven they can score relatively consistently at this level but that's okay because we wanted 20 goal a season strikers in and replaced them with potential who haven't proven anything yet and none have come close to the 20 goal mark in a season. So to me on paper we looked far stronger upfront last season and perhaps some of you are more in the know about these players potential than I am because other than watching a few clips and looking at their goalscoring stats I've got no idea whether they're going to be any good or not. I just trust in McKenna he knows what he's doing but as I also said I still think the jury is out on his transfer business
+1 for this. Bonne contributed zero under McKenna. He burnt out by Christmas. Pigott for a lot of huffing and puffing and other qualities couldn’t hit a banjo with a barn door for us. Norwood knows where the goal is when fit but he’s not professional and he’s managed five goals so far this season so not for losing any sleep over. It would be really, really hard to not improve our strike force.
Judging by his interview, he seems a very sensible young man, with a very determined attitude. Can't wait to see him in action!!
Doesn’t tick the ‘experienced’ box but we’ve strengthened all the positions we needed. When was the last time we could say that? The owners have done their bit, now it’s up to McKenna to deliver.
It’s his team now. They play with teammates he’s picked under his style and his instruction (or they don’t). If the players don’t deliver, ultimately that’s not on them - there’s only so much they control as individuals, it’s also on McKenna.
