I used to be a big fan of Redmond and hoped that he would improve with age/experience, but that seems to not be the case. I think he was certainly below par in both the Villa and Saints games and maybe needs a spell on the bench to get him to focus on what he's best at.
Dont recall him being booed but his substitution vs Southampton was cheered. He had been awful and im not sure if the fans were cheering him going off or Vadis coming on... either way Vadis' impact on the game proved it was the right move. Id never advocate booing or jeering our own player and i felt bad for Redmond, but i must admit i couldnt have been happier that he was the one to go off at that point.
That guy on EDP is pretty down on pinto 'his defensive play leaves a lot to be desired. He often fails to close down players or doesn’t return on time from his forward runs. I’d also say his positional sense, spatial intelligence, is rather poor' 'his acceleration and pace won’t make that much difference – if at all – while his defensive deficiencies are bound to show' 'don’t expect him to be making the Team of the Week any time soon' 'I wouldn’t expect Pinto to be a massive upgrade.'
What an idiot. Lets shoot down a player before he's even kicked a ball. Lets destroy all our players confidence. That's going to help us moving forward! It actually made me laugh.
Sorry Battersea, but that's just one person's opinion and one article!!! AN watched him play against Sanchez at the Emirates and obviously he played well enough so that AN was impressed enough to want to buy him to BOLSTER the team. That's good enough for me, as the other additions since his move a year ago, have all been quite successful I think you'll agree!!
He does happen to be a Croatian journalist who will have watched most of Pinto's 70 games for Dinamo Zagreb. May be a touch of sour grapes at losing the guy but he seems to be telling it like it is - or how he sees it. Poor show by Archant to publish it before NCFC fans have had a chance to judge themselves
Totally agree Cromer and I too will wait and see how well he adapts to the PL before casting judgement (and not just after one game - especially as his first 2 home fixtures are against Loserpool and Spurs!!!!
yes but it does sound like his issue is discipline rather than ability. I'd fancy AN to be able to improve that element of his game. And yes, he seems like theres a bit of bitter feeling about Pinto from him, possibly due to Pinto not wanting to be there either. also i think we all realised that you arent going to get a finished article for 2 million. There was bound to be some polishing needed, and i trust AN to do that.
Meanwhile, from VitalFootball Bournemouth Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Benik Afobe is reportedly set for a medical with AFC Bournemouth ahead of a potential record transfer. The Cherries were linked with a move for around £10-£12million for Afobe, after reportedly having a bid for former Cherries top goalscorer Lewis Grabban rejected by Norwich City. A product of the youth system at Arsenal, Afobe scored 32 goals in 51 appearances during the 2014/15 season, scoring 19 goals for League One side MK Dons prior to his £2million move to Wolves a year ago. This season he has scored 10 goals in 27 appearances. The Daily Echo's Neil Perrett has tweeted that Afobe is set for a medical with AFC Bournemouth today (Saturday).
Well that's a f**king nightmare with Afobe. Meanwhile, WBA open to offers for James Chester. He's a decent defender.
I like Redmond, but he is probably one of the layers that frustrates me the most. I am not convinced he always has his head in the right place, but some of that is maturity. This season I feel is not making the runs he used to, and is not using his pace as much. That may be because of the system, or maybe he's not seeing the opportunities. I don't know. Would I sell him? No, not unless an absolutely crazy offer came in.
How much did Wolves turn down for Afobe from us in the summer?? If all this is true then I'm really disappointed to see Afobe go to Bournemouth whilst we could have sold Grabban for £8 million. That money would have been useful and it was an opportunity to directly sabotage a relegation rival by giving them the most inefficient striker we've had in years. It's not like Grabban would play for us and it looks like Bournemouth are actually getting a quality player now.
BTW Redmond is quality, we should keep him. He has a good attitude and he is a threat when he plays well. He was always a good impact sub
Really pissed off about Afobe, get Granban off the wage bill and only need to stump up 2 mil for Afobe. Afobe is a far better player. Really wish we'd make a 10m bid right now!
I'd much rather they had Grabban up front and we had Afobe up there for us. Rather than them have Afobe and we have Grabban in the stands.
