i think our scouting network ( inconsequential as it is) should really narrow in on the sorts of players we are going to be able to attract to come to our little corner of the country.

We don't have the exciting glamour of London, the high class footballer community of north england (Manchester/liverpool/newcastle et al) or the money of other clubs. What we have is a very nice city with pretty countryside around it. This will appeal to two groups of players, slightly older folk looking to move on from their party days, and younger players who have just started a family.

So, we need to be scouting in maternity wards and retirement homes.

 

Don't forget the fine angling. Howson should put an advert in Carp Fisherman Weekly "Lovely fishing lakes, glorious package - just bang in 2 goals a game for 6 months in a high pressure league, and I'll lend you my rods"

New one to me. Looks like we're going to be linked to several players throughout the month and it will be interesting to see who we actually manage to sign and how much we end up spending.

 

It's the Agents putting their players names out there, linking them to us for no other reason than to hopefully generate interest from "bigger" clubs. All this talk of us signing these top foreign players will turn out to be total hogwash as usual. We'll probably sign the OAP from Everton, spend a couple of £M elsewhere and bring in a loan or two and that will be your lot.
