So we haven’t signed anyone? There is something very wrong with our club coming from the top.

So we were willing pay £30M for Promes but not pay £20M+ for Theo; have l got that right?

Theo being the underutilised proven EPL product who was willing to join his boyhood club that he is so attached to and who scored twice for Everton last night - we are frecking great at this transfer market thingy! Well done Les.

Oh almost forgot: we bought a backup nobody from a French team who let everyone know they had lined up a better player and would use our cash to pay for him.

I'm pretty sure you've got that right. [re-reads] ...yep, that's about right. A bit harsh on Guido who has been training alone for two weeks and only up for 45 mins of football but pretty much spot on.

On, the plus side, even though Walcott was involved in almost everything and scored two yesterday for Everton - in his first game - he would still be, ooh, at least a couple of weeks away from 'being ready to play' for our manager who is very strict about this 'being ready to play' thing.

And we still have 30million in the bank.

Yes, but Walcott is an experienced PL player who has been lifted by a move....bit different from players to whom even being in England is new.

The occasional dud window where we can't get someone across the line is acceptable, but there is a bit of a theme here. Are we so difficult to deal with? Are we parsimonious? Are we an undesirable team? Questions that need addressing.

I think we are incompetent. I have lost count now but I think that is 3 poor transfer windows in a row. Possibly 4. And 2 poor managerial appointments in a row.

Perhaps a bit of smugness has set in. We have done very well until the last 2 seasons...perhaps the board think they have a good system and it will work for ever. Well it may from the point of being financial stable (and I'm not knocking that), but you also mustn't take your eye off the ball (if you'll pardon the pun).

Not sure what you mean Fran. We shouldn't have paid more to get him we shouldn't expect as much of players that cost more because of this?

Walcott wasn't about the fee but the wages is my understanding, parsimonious we have been and our wage structure would be the issue. Anyone know different? Les probably didnt want to piss off our first choice striker by putting an ex arsenal winger on much higher wages and run the risk of the goals drying up.

I was referring to the bit about Walcott being thrown into the game straight away as opposed to a manager giving inexperienced players more time. I would have paid more to get Walcott, but I also accept that he may have considered Everton a better team with better wages. I don't think missing out on Walcott was necessarily entirely down to us, but perhaps we needed to move faster (ie offer more) earlier on. Trying to get a better deal may mean you miss out.

I laughed when you mention goals drying up though...I assume that was ironic. :)

Not bothered by no more signings, but was kinda hoping they would have canned him this morning. Oh well.
