I won't lie, pace is my main attribute. I wouldn't say I'm the best tackler, we had a guy in school who was a real warrior in defense, guy threw himself into every tackle, you were afraid to go up against him in the end. Maybe I should give him a call...? Couldn't be much worse than Senderdross. Was anyone here a goalkeeper by any chance? Twas my secondary position, you should have been there for the 'Hollywood' saves when the girls were watching
I got the impression from a number of comments on different threads that Senderos has been playing well in recent games. Is that not the case?
When we used to have kickarounds at school, after school and every weekend I was a goalkeeper. I was like Spurs' Gomes - for every amazing save I made there were about ten hilarious mistakes. When I started playing for my local team they put me at left-back. I had no left foot.
You must have run around in circles a lot then, Bidders. I understand you can get prosthetic replacements these days.
we've gone ever so slightly off thread chaps! I too was goal keeper and had trials with Southampton, Tottenham and Brighton! Actually I didn't but I was a goalkeeper.
Deary me Captain, did you decide to use that 'classic' instead of the "left back in the changing rooms" gag?
I was pretty decent in goal, I think anyway. Penalties were my forte purely because everyone used to smack them as hard as they could straight down the middle. They were no Danny Murphy that's for sure.
I too was a goalkeeper, way too small though. Played against a very young Shane Long, who used to in fact play Centre Back. Didn't seem anything great back then.
I thought it was crying out for someone to make a joke about you being too small and Shane being too Long...
I saw at Newcastle signed Papa Cisse, with whom we were linked this summer. I really liked this player, but we signed Ruiz instead, even thought the money was the same. I think the Fulham leadership will be kicking itself in a few weeks when Cisse starts scoring. He's a bit of a head-case like Balotelli at ManC, but he's also big, fast and deadly in front of goal ... he's scored 9 in 15 games this season for Freiberg, a light-weight Bundesliga side anchored to the bottom half of the table.
I considered the changing rooms options, Bidley, but decided it was too well worn. Hope you like my new direction.
I sometimes wonder if we have a Newcastle spy in the Fulham camp as they seem to be linked with a lot of the players we were speaking to, and I think Gignac and Ruiz said they had been tapped-up by the Toon when we brought them over. I watch a lot of German football and not so much this season, but in previous season Pappa Cisse would have been a player to look at. His form has dipped, but then again so has his teams performances. Think he might do well, he's never seemed to be a team player, more of an individual, with a look at me attitude 'I can do it all'. So have to wait and see how he fits in. When he's on fire he's very good, but when he struggles the team carries him.
I was a goalkeeper once until I decided to change for a RB. A bit slow for RB though something like Baird!! But had a few goals scored. Don't count the own goals.
I can't quite seem to see the logic in a team who will be losing their star striker to the ACON for 6 weeks, signing another striker who will be in the same side as him, so will be unavailable too. Still, looks a good signing.
To me, Cisse looked like a "sure thing". Freiberg was literally a one-man team (and Cisse was the man), but he still managed to score a boat load of goals despite being double-teamed by the defense. My prediction ... he's going to tear up the EPL like Van Persie. Why we took Ruiz instead of Cisse is beyond me. You're right, Super Bri, about Cisse's team player problem. But still, this guy could have scored 20 a season for us.
I have a similar feeling DR. This guy is going to be world class. Surely we could have sold BZ and AJ for close to £10 million, bought this guy and got another on loan?
