He had a back injury I think at Man City and hasn't been the same since, either in Spain or back in the PL.
A Sunderland fan friend of mine reckons Defoe can leave on a free on relegation. I'd have him in a heartbeat. Probably common knowledge but thought I'd pass it on anyway.

Batty Signs New Two-Year Deal please log in to view this image We are delighted to announce that Daniel Batty has signed a new contract with the club. The 19-year-old central midfielder, who signed his first professional deal last summer, has put pen-to-paper on a new two-year contract to commit his future to the Tigers until the end of the 2018/19 season. Speaking after penning his new deal, Batty said: “I’m delighted to have extended my stay at the club. “Overall it’s been a good first season as a professional for me. My position in the team has changed a little with the different formations we’ve played, but it’s been an enjoyable campaign. “Working with the coaches at the Academy has been great and I feel as though I’m developing all the time, although every day is still a learning curve. “I’m always learning - not just from my coaches, but from my team-mates as well. We all learn bits from each other and I’m delighted to have been given the opportunity to continue my learning process here with this new deal.” Read more at http://www.hullcitytigers.com/news/...wo-year-deal-3703547.aspx#6zGlsZsEcEaCYirM.99
Lots of talks in here about keeping and buying players. Let's see first in which division we'll be next year ok?
I don't follow the juniors too closely but the couple of times I've seen that Batty he's looked good. First time was in that cup final last year against West Ham. He came off the bench and I was immediately surprised how he looked better than the midfielders who'd started for us. Sadly I think he missed the deciding penalty in the shootout.
8.4m for The Frog? Good deal that if true.. I was expecting them to want a lot more. Stay up, Keep Silva for at least another season... skys the limit..
