I don't think that it's as straightforward as that. A case in point is the aforementioned Hatem Ben Arfa, who was dogshite for us but who occasionally when playing for Newcastle was literally unstoppable. A talent as great as any I've ever seen on a football pitch. After he left us he pitched up at Nice and set the place alight. From hero to zero to hero. I don't know much about Markovic so like many of us I look forward to seeing him in black and amber and hope that someone who played for one of Europe's top teams, commanded a massive transfer fee and is a proven international in his early twenties, can tear up trees for us. Even though he's currently more zero than hero there's plenty of examples of a move changing the whole picture for a player.
Liverpool fans thought Lucas, Hendreson, olvirgi where rubbish initially. He joined them 3 yrs ago as a teenager, was expected to replace Suarez, in a squad that massively under performed that season, no wonder he bombed. How about we judge him ourselves, in our squad, with our manager, playing in our managers style before we judge him.
Nothing against the lad, he's only 22, and if he does well I'll be pleasantly surprised but I'm not expecting much. Ben Arfa blew hot and cold in the Premier League but Markovic has been consistently freezing since he joined Liverpool. I'm hoping we sign another winger.
FFS every player we've signed from another PL club has been **** or past it...according to the fans of those clubs! I can only think of Bullard as the only player who didn't get slagged off and look how that worked out!
We're in a relegation fight with four months left of the season. If he's ****, which has been the case for the past three years, it will be a wasted loan spot. He's a winger, so why would he have been expected to replace Suarez?
I've just got a feeling he's going to do really well for us under Marco Silva. He looked a really special young player before Liverpool signing. He's quick, direct and runs at players which for us city fans will be a breath of fresh air. One of Silva's strengths is getting the absolute best out of players... If he can get the best out of Markovic we'll be in for a treat.
I'm no expert, but I've a feeling that it's unlikely that we'll sign any completely proven quality Premier League players during this window We might even have to gamble a bit ?
Spurs fans didn't have a bad word to say about Mason. All they said was that he gave everything on the pitch and showed promise but that he was far down in the pecking order. The Liverpool fans saying he's **** is one thing, the Sporting fans saying the exact same is worrying considering the Portuguese league is where he came from in the first place. If he can't cut it in the league he played in over 3 years ago and which warranted a £20 million move to a top PL side, it raises questions over his ability and attitude.
It does make me laugh that people seem to expect us to bring in established first team players from top clubs , every player we sign that hasn't scored 20 goals in La liga , the premier league or seria A is deemed not up to the job ..
Are you really that dumb? Look back at Suarez last season with Liverpool, he played on the left side of an attacking three with sterling and sturridge (granted the three inter changed). After Suarez left he was brought in as the big signing who could attack off the left and also interchange. He is a winger, Liverpool tried to play him as a wing forward, maybe if he had been playing as a winger (his natural position ) at such a young age, he may have had a better time. Feel free to identify any other player who is available on loan, at a cheap price, with pace and ability, who has played in the premiership
