Well done you two. Just waded through all the pages today and these two posts have saved me doing a tickler length reply.
Well, given the fact Cairney is a Championship midfielder and Jake is a Premier League midfielder and we only value ours at half of what Fulham value their player. Quite a lot. We could have quite easily got more for Livermore.
I think £10m is around the peak of his value. As has been mentioned prior every man and his dog thought we got ripped off paying around 7/8m. Livermore was also brought up recently in a discussion about how Daniel Levy has our pants down and wasn't contested. Now he's being sold for a figure higher than the figure we got ripped of for, all of a sudden it's a fraction of his true worth.
PL valuations have moved on since we bought him. We should have pushed for more. Notoriously difficult to sign players in January. West Brom had nearly £20m to spend and we had a player that they wanted. We should have been making them pay £14m at least. He's our player at the end of the day. I wouldn't let any of you thinking £10m was a good price negotiate on my behalf.
Prices for players in general have gone up a lot since then. The current TV deal is worth a lot more than the one operating when Livermore signed.
im just using GLP's,logic - Alex is a Premier League player who got his club promoted to the Premier League and Olsson was until last week a Championship player.
1. We have no idea of exactly how much Livermore has gone for, and likely won't ever know. 2. It might be 9m or 10, or 12. There might be addons. See 1. above. 3. We've made money on the sale (if its one of the above, but, see 1. above) after getting our own benefits out of him, so...yeah, good work, if its true.
Easy to see other clubs saying now we've received 10 million we can buy their competent but average squad player for 9 million. So likely we'll have more loans who'll be out of here in record time if we get relegated.
Has Bruce been a regular first team player in the PL this season? Clue is no he hasn't Was Bruce a regular last season in the Championship? Clue is no he wasn't Your arguments are frankly rubbish.
I always thought Livermore would be gone for £12-15m, I think we've gone low, but not by a fortune. I think it's an issue if we don't replace him, it's dangerous having no ball winner in the squad and I certainly don't think Maguire fits the bill. Snodgrass is a different proposition completely. There's now a whisper that we've received bids for Maguire and Hernandez as well.
this is the thing that gets me with the comparison to Mason. Unless I missed it the club never said he cost £13m. They said it was a club record. People assumed it was £13m cos Abel supposedly cost £12m. However Palermo contest it was far less than that. The club has lied about valuations of transfers before - I know this for a fact - so Mason could've cost less than Jake is going for. Basically none of us know the true figures.
