Hopefully Silva will (if possible) block the sale of Livermore and others. He was brought in on a shoddy 6 month deal to do 1 thing and that is keep us up. To keep us up in his words "we need to all stick together, team spirit and belief is very important". Selling the likes of Livermore at this moment in time goes against everything Silva is trying to build short term. If we still had Phelan or Bruce and we were sitting pretty mid-table and a decent offer came in then yeah, seriously consider it... but now is not the time to be breaking up the team.
All this about Silva needing to sell in order to buy is nonsense. So we sell Snodgrass and Livermore (arguably our two best players) and replace them with players in other positions such as a right back. What's the point of selling to buy if your taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back. You're solving a problem whilst causing another problem. At this point in the season in a relgation battle at our shambles of a run club for our budget. There isn't anyone out their who improves us who can settle in to a new city and new teammates with 16 games to go. People are getting all excited about Silva like we are in the closed season in summer with a 50 million pound budget. You can't rebuild a squad mid season in a relgation battle when you have a squad of about 14 fit players. We currently need around 6 players plus. So what use will selling 2 do it moves us no further forward in progression and yet hampers our chances of survival from minimal to paper thin. This isn't football manager.
Isn't football ironic. We paid 6-8 mill for Livermore and he looked worth every penny. Then we thought he was dear at that and a 2-4 mill player when we got relegated. Then the drugs episode, and his value was zilch. Now we are talking bids over 10 million!
Agree but what if we can't bring in those 6/7 players because we have no money? If we could lose one player in a position we have cover for anyway and bring in an extra 2 or 3 players to suit the style of football Marco wants to play, is it not worth considering? I don't want to lose Livermore but if the fee is right, it's re-invested it could give us more options
People were complaining seven or eight years ago that Stoke were spending more but Phil Brown would have wasted it.
SSN are reporting West Brom's bid for Livermore, but the footage they're using is Davies. Useless bastards.
Selling Livermore and selling Snodgrass are completely different. If we sell Snodgrass we're knackered, he's probably been our best player this year. We have 4 other central midfielders who are fighting for 2 spots, we have an abundance of cover for that position and at least it gives Marco a few quid to bring players in so we have a more balanced squad. How else are we going to afford to bring in 6? Of all of our better players who would fetch a decent price, I'd probably be happiest to let Jake go.
The most interesting development today is the club not commenting on the speculation around the bid, literally saying nothing. Hmmm...
