Transfers going well then,other teams seem to be getting players in the door but as usual with our club we will end up with the dregs.

He hasn't made 24 starts in League One.
It's actually 11 goals in 24 games if you include the Cup games. He's scored 4 in 2 FA Cup games including a brace at Newport in their 2-4 win.
Agreed not necessarily a pointer to Championship ability but he knows where the goal is and doesn't appear to suffer from the Kanga/Meite avoidance syndrome.
Let's face it, if he'd netted a dozen in 19 League One games, there'd be top end Championship clubs interested not just bottom end strugglers like us.
A factor in choosing whatever striker we get is presumably the quality of service he’ll get.
We’ve had strikers who haven’t flourished at City due to the different style of play at their previous club. Glatzel is a prime example. He scored for fun either side of his move to us as he fed on pin point direct through balls from central midfield. He was virtually starved of this type of service at City.
We were spoiled in relatively recent previous eras with the likes of Earnshaw and Chopra. City then had the creative players to enable so many goals to be scored.
It is not unreasonable to suggest Riza realises this rather than just getting in a striker at the last hour just for the sake of it.

Unfortunately there aren't too many creative players at Championshipt level you can get for 5 bob.

Transfer windows drive me crazy with the level of expectation they create. Unfortunately, the expectations are a million miles from being realistic. There also seems to be a desire to sign people at all costs. Apart from the issue correctly pointed out by nin, availability, cost and the wish to join us are factors that aren't in our favour. As discussed on other threads, the lack of professionalism at board level is bound to work against us.
It seems crazy that we were a far more viable prospect for potential recruits last summer than we are now. Let's hope a miracle can be worked and we uncover some unknown talent.
It would also help if we had a defined style of play so we could sign players that suit that. See nin's comment on Glatzel above.

Only then will we sign appropriate players deliberately, rather than getting lucky once in 10 due to a scattergun approach.

Was it by luck we landed Doughty, Doyle, Hughill, Dramah and Uche in the January window in 2022? That was half decent.
Kaba was the only one I can recall who came in January 2023 and last season was just about average - Diedjhou, Phillips and Wilson -Esbrand.

I like RJJ. Academy product, fans have mixed views but expectations were always far to high. We don’t play to his strengths and haven’t worked out his best position. He’s super quick, over 10 yards he can give an 11 yard start and still beat his man.I’d love to see him at City, he’s got plenty of potential, with the right players around him and good coaches he’d grow in confidence and improve skill levels. Well worth a punt and shouldn’t cost to much! Less that £500k?
