Seen at least one report suggesting that WHU will offer us Ings in a swap deal involving KWP. Wouldn’t mind having a fit Ings on loan but not at the cost of losing KWP.

I’m skeptical about dealing with them as I’d suggest they mugged us off a bit over JWP. He was worth more and to only have a straight loan for Downes doesn’t really bridge the gap. I appreciate a permanent or one with an option to buy likely wasn’t what Downes wanted but it still was a bit of a mugging compared to other fees that went around. Including others they spent

And I fully expect them to absolutely try and make mugs of us if we want Downes permanently at any point. Potentially even demanding close to the JWP fee due to “fee inflation” and what not

This Ings things suggests they don’t have the actual money we would want - exactly like JWP. Only we are also talking about a player who won’t be match fit, won’t join permanently and is on very big wages that he has no reason to reduce.

I seem to remember some people on here saying sh*t like 25m for JWP. No chance getting 40m etc.

30m plus Downes for a season was considered decent enough by most.

Its odd that he isn't already out on loan. Had a great season with Sunderland so youd expect there to be interest, yet he isn't involved at all at United.

Wasn't he out injured for a while so there was no point or did I make that up?

Ah knew there must be a reason. I'd certainly take him on a loan.

Lille are considering a move for Southampton's 21-year-old France Under-21s forward Sekou Mara in January. (L'Equipe - in French)

Big no from me. We'd likely have one striker if that happened, and if he got injured it doesn't bear thinking about (largely because going by past windows, we're not terribly good at buying strikers, and it's doubly difficult in January). Plus he's just beginning to show a bit now as well.

Unless he's unhappy here, of course, and that homesickness is a big thing. Still, as I say, big no from me.

I have a feeling that us (and others no doubt) will enquire about the possibility of Ings on loan …..he practically getting no playing time ATM, and IF he did come here, Mara would learn a lot from him.

If it was Ings, then definitely keep Mara, for the reasons you state, and also because he'll probably get injured too.

Surely if Ings goes out on loan it will be to the premier league ?

We already have reached out to West Ham for Ings.

Is Chair at QPR worth a punt. Seemed to be their stand out player. Can he play on the right, can he make Messi looks***e?

Those are my favourite kind. Maybe because those are the only ones I ever do - rarely and completely by accident
