If Austin comes back it’ll certainly give the fans and players a boost, big personality, knows the club and some much needed experience.

The concerns are quite rightly around his match fitness, and is he anywhere near the level he was when he left us?

His best form was always when he was in a pairing (in particular with Bobby Z) playing off of Dykes might suit them both?

feed the Goat and he will score......
Nice to be linked with strikers.......what about players that can provide crosses???

I thought that too. Charlie and Dykes up front with Chair roaming and Albert feeding in. Hope BOS there too but....

Charlie had a tough time with COVID some months back and I’ve no doubt that will have had a detrimental effect on his fitness. However, good strikers know where to lurk and if he improves our dire set-piece scoring rate then he’ll be a massive addition. I for one will welcome him back

He's handy for defending set-pieces in our own box too. When he last played for us he was one of our best players to head the ball away from danger.

I'd be very happy to see Charlie back. He seems like the sort of striker who scored a lot of the time after being on the right place at the right time. Hopefully that skill hasn't faded with age...and anyway, 31 isn't that old...we've had a lot older.

I think Charlie coming back will be as bigger boost to him as to us.

He had fun times with us and he’ll be tickled pink to rejoin.

Bring the Big Marn back!

Cannot understand this. Charlie bless him has not performed for years, due to Injury and fitness, not a prayer that he will have any major impact on our performances. Our entire forward line has been procured this season so either our scouting is dire and therefore should be dismissed, or the manager is not picking a team to get the full potential out of them. I have said this before Dykes should have been rested, Bonne has been given little opportunity and Kelman no opportunity. What's the point of signing 3 strikers if u do not use them and clearly do not think they are good enough, so why sign them? Give them a decent run I guarantee all 3 will be better than Murray, Austin and Rhodes. We need a box to box hard core midfielder and BOS to stay and to stop throwing his dummy out. Additionally a manager who knows what he is doing

Charlie Austin of West Bromwich Albion warms up.
One of the Baggies' highest earners, Austin scored 11 times for the club last season as they won promotion to the Premier League.

But he hasn't started a top flight game this term and now looks set to return to the club where he scored 45 goals in 75 league starts between 2013 and 2016.

Austin, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is in advanced talks to join QPR on loan until the end of the campaign.

Speaking at press conference yesterday, Albion head coach Sam Allardyce revealed he is hoping to add a new striker to his squad soon.

“I am looking for a front-man, hopefully, he’ll be coming through the door as quickly as possible," he said.

“That’ll be from abroad, rather than from this country.”

I guess Austin has a new club to look for with his contract ending in the summer.
So maybe he will be looking to step down a division to still be effective.
Let’s hope he still has it at this level and can at least solve a problem in one area of or game.
Now, MW, did anyone mention we need a creative midfielder... kick some ass in the scouting set-up FFS
