I'm not convinced he's arsed enough at all tbh. Doubt **** Ralph needed to run the appointment by him. Probably knows nothing of football managers anyway. The only thing which I'm certain he had a hand in is the LD Sports fiasco.
He must have had some say in booting Reed, Hunter and Krueger as they were running the show at the time.
I think that was more to do with is son from memory? (Though I wouldn't trust my memory as far as I could throw it tbh).
You could credit Gao with keeping out of football matters and leaving it up to people that know what they are doing. He also doesn't appear to have been taking money from the club. We appear to be stable and well run behind the scenes at the moment and although that may have very little/nothing to do with Gao, that is preferable to an owner who wants to be involved in decisions when they know nothing about football. IMO, Ralph and the team are performing right at the peak of their abilities. He's managed to get every little bit of talent, effort and application out of what have been very limited PL players for us under previous managers. But if we are to maintain this sort of position; to be a consistant Europa League challenger (which Leicester are showing is very possible for a club of our size), than we need an owner who will put money in.
Yep & very difficult for any mid size revenue generating team. A PL position is only worth about £2.5M & EL doesn’t really generate any revenue until the later stages. To invest in quality players is expensive; to purchase, the term contract & possibly the wages knock-on effect if going high. Very difficult juggle. That said, you’d hope the board would like to progress each season as much as us fans but financial restraints will probably always prevail.
I suspect we would have to join quite a long queue. And we wouldn't find ourselves near the front of it.
You misunderstand. I think there’s better options for MU his development in the championship because he’ll get more playing time than with Saints.
KWP was an out-of-favour backup who took (at the time) a step down in order to get playing time. Alli's a player who will feel he needs no progression, who would be courted by top clubs in the UK and on the continent, and whose wages Spurs would need to subsidize heavily even if he was our highest-paid player. It's just a nonstarter really.
Damn, probably been obvious for a while now but that’s a shame. I guess there’s no room for sentimentality but I was very excited for these two when they came onto the scene during a pretty ****e period of supporting saints.
Shame but probably right, neither have kicked on as hoped. Always remember Valery for that rocket at OT. And Obafemi should be remembered for scoring the goal that got us the derby, as well as the part he played at Fratton. Great assist for goal 2 iirc.
Shame for both of them, as they have both looked good in parts, but I always had the feeling that their attitudes weren't good enough for Ralph tbh.
I'd be fine with them generating not-so-decent money, to be honest. Although decent money would obviously be preferable.
