Could DTLW please be banned unless he is giving information? When I saw he was the last poster on here I assumed there was some real news not just a comment on old news. FFS, DTLW, this is not your role on here! Good comment, mind
I always thought it was ironic that Austin always scored against us but rarely for us. Shame that the Hoops are struggling as they are a team I have always had a soft spot for.
Best football match I ever watched was Saints v QPR in the 1975/76 season when Dave Sexton was their manager and they had a superb team including Leighton James, Phil Parkes, Stan Bowles, Rodney Marsh, Gerry Francis, Don Givens and others of the same quality. A one all draw with them at the Dell when the football from both teams was sublime and Channon scored his best ever goal as far as I am concerned.
I think you are talking about the Mike Channon testimonial which took place almost immediately after we won the FA Cup in 1976. This was an incredible game and believe one of the goals was scored in injury time. I can remember Bobby Stokes winning a car as part of a bet if he scored at Wembley. My Dad used to take me to the Archers Road to watch Saints and it was so crowded that night that I could barely see anything because I was so small. I remember trying to get a better view by walking back up the stems and a complete stranger lifting me up above the crowd to see what was happening. I was just about to turn 9 at that time.
Southampton forward Dan N'Lundulu, who has represented England at youth level, is a target for Real Betis. The 21-year-old has 18 months left on his contract. (TodoFichajes - in Spanish)
Close to being the Charity Shield match for the curtain raiser in 76/77. We'd won the Cup and QPR were just pipped to the title by ... guess who? Bloody Liverpool of course. God, how I hated that team in that era. Whereas now I just simply loath them. Some names among that lot. Rodney is the stand out one for me. I was living in West London when Marsh was playing for Fulham with George Best. Got to see them quite often. What performances those two turned in when they were up for it. Put Norwich on the pitch and they'd yawn, but put United in front of them and they would bamboozle them. Mind you, that Channon could play ...
Tyreke Johnson will join the Gills on a permanent move after his loan. Has been told he has no future at saints.
Saw a rumour online today about Saints wanting Mattias Svanberg from Bologna. Seems AC Milan and Leicester following him too. Probably not true but at least it is a Saints transfer rumour!
Bertrand and Ings have been rumoured to be signing new deals for ages. Maybe they are just building up to a big Ings announcement after this one is done.
We are entering the dark period. Post Xmas/New Year blues. Covid wave heading to peak. Lockdown. Nasty Eastern cold weather. Saints just doing their bit for the community by getting the timing right to cheer us all up. Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst.
I've had a look for Danny Ings transfer rumours in newspapers and online platforms, haven't found a club linked with him. I think it's more likely he and Ryan will sign than not.
Give me 5 minutes I’ll hash something together and getting on News Now. where shall we say he’s going?
PSG, new manager, lots of money, too old for a top six side, European Football, offered a contract as a starter and not a benchwarmer. That should do it quite nicely...
No interest from any club mentioned here. https://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/Sport/Football/Premier League/Southampton/Forwards/Danny Ings
