I'm imminently moving to Vancouver so that'll make 3 of us at least! Might have to grab some tips for keeping up with games...!
I subscribe to DAZN. It costs me around $150 a year, But I get to see every Saints Premier league game and all the other teams. Although I get up at 8am on Saturday's! Thankfully though, the way the boys have got their S together, it's not such a chore
I use streaming sites. DAZN seems to be a solid option as well. Just remember: those 3pm games? They're now 7am. And noon kickoffs happen at a glorious 4am. Also, Vancouver's a good spot if leaving the UK: it's perpetually overcast and raining, so you'll feel a bit at home, but you'll also get quite a bit a feel for Canada via the many very large trees, and also the bit where everyone is high.
Well I've actually been in Brisbane for the last 4 years so going to be a bit of a readjustment back to the climate! I'm well used to the early starts for games at least though. Get all prem games streamed for free with my mobile phone provider here which is pretty convenient
I get that it’s partly done to keep match attendances higher, but I can’t quite understand how the UK can’t have access to all the UK games yet. It’s crying out for a PLTV to me, which would negate the need to pay for Sky/BT, but anyway...
Sky and BT are willing to pay through the nose for exclusivity. The more widely games are available, the less they’ll be prepared to pay. Having said that, the bubble has to burst soon anyway. The technology is there for everyone to watch every game on their phone already, and caste it to their TVs. TV revenue is what has the PL awash with money, not gate receipts, but in the future football will probably end up like the music industry, where the money now comes from live performances again and not from record sales (because no one buys records).
I think if we were a larger country (like the US), they would do what they do there - All NFL games are live, but there are blackouts in the 'local' area I believe. The problem is that a blackout in say Hampshire for Saints games will not stop a lot of fans that potentially would go to the game from seeing the stream if you get what I mean. I am in Dorset for example and could watch it.
I always thought it was a cake and eat it situation. Clubs want all the TV money but they also want full stadiums for most games so came up with the Saturday 3pm blackout rule. I always thought that with the NFL only in the local area/channels would you see the local team. If you lived further away you had to subscribe to a service to see all the games. It’s why the Sunday evening\Monday/Thursday night games are such a big deal and called “Prime Time” as its when the channels nationwide are all showing the same game so it is when the whole country can see how good/bad a team is I have never lived in the States though so could be completely wrong
I've said this before but I think they'll end up making Sunday the standard PL day, with just an early and late ko on Saturday, so they can show all the matches.
Yep I am not sure - I have visited a few times to see my daughter, but I thought it was the other way round as her husband was asking me to use my IPTV provider to get over blocks once. Maybe one of the US based posters can confirm?
