Scored again tonight! Money talks Soops, and although we aren't rich, any decent bid would probably force Dundee Utds hand. They're well clear of the pack in regards to the title anyway

I suppose we need to do something as we had no striker on bench tonight, so if Hugill gets injured we could be well and truly stuffed...…….

Oteh only scored 3 goals in League 2, Smyth similar to BOS, Shodipo and Clarke...…..Do you recall them from their loans? Who'd be a manager/dof/ceo

We had a scout up here watching Shankland tonight....

I have a feeling we might splash the cash on Shankland.
I wonder if the Parrott chase is just a safeguard/bluff.

He will be the same sort of cost as Wells, cheaper on wages...youngwer and one of our own.

What I cannot understand is where Mlakar is, as we have not returned him or Smith yet (and there is talk he might stay!)

Rumours Southampton are interested in Shankland, as well as Celtic and other Championship Clubs. I'll be surprised if we get him now if these are true.

We need a striker and cannot just rely on loans.

It is a much better business case than signing Wells (much as I like him!)

The whole Wells recall seems bizarre to me in respect of the timing. Why did he need to be back at Burnley before the Blackburn game. I am making the rash assumption that Dyche wanted to have the player back under his control so that he wasnt dealing with the player while he was at the club he wished to join. Makes a wee bit of sense to have him there, espescially if they are looking seriously at BOS.
The next few days are big for us although after the Blackburn result I really cannot see us being in the play-off shake up.

WBA also rumoured to be interested in BOS.

I don’t care what others say... this Wells thing is a cock up. We should never have been put in this position. I get the loan rules and recall ( if needed back at parent club) but he gets called back to be sold because his contract is nearing its end. Why do we not check this and sort this before a loan deal? Yes his goals have been very important but losing him now is just stupid. It’s not about FFP or wages. We should have seen this before the loan deal.

Some reports that Dyche might actually give him a chance in the team. Good for Wells if so.

We're not in the playoff shake-off. I think it's been clear for a while that playoffs are out of reach while we have this back line. Which is why BOS should have started in the cup...

Seen you state this before Ellers and I sympathise. However, the lad was a good fit for us and the deal was probably right. He has gone n stuffed it up with his goalscoring record this season which has attracted added interest and value. We all know that he is a streak player though and in his time at QPR has had some dismal spells too. This side can create chances that most half decent strikers will profit from. I would prefer to see us get someone permanent, Shankland maybe, and strive to keep the young talent that is ours. Most of the dross in the current team are loanees and ageing has beens.
If we can keep Eze, Chair and BOS that trio will create many chances for any striker to thrive on.

Our team is like a shop window for other teams, just there for the taking if they fancy it. I can’t think of many teams that allow their squad to picked apart by other teams if they see something they like. No doubt all our talent will go on the cheap to clubs no bigger or better than ours. So frustrating.

I think as well that Wells improved a lot this season under MW. He scored more goals, because he spent far more time in and around the box compared to last season when he often played like a 10 wandering all over the park. He also benefitted from the posession based football we have played with MW and the type of chances created. No wonder his value has increased, with Burnley having another years option on him as well.

Agree, even some lesser clubs have decent players that they manage to keep or sell for big money. At QPR all our best talent is taken and sold cheaply or we are put in a difficult position (Wells). Some will say that is how we will do business but it is not a good business model. We will never progress if we keep losing our talent and only go backwards.

Shankland and Dundee United have stated that he will NOT be leaving in the January window!
If he carries on scoring for the rest of season in the vein he has then we will not be able to afford come the summer.

So Forest have just signed a Portuguese striker..so surely this rules out another bid for Wells. Wigan can't compete with even us.
So only Bristol City left in the mix.

The Dundee player is not moving

BOS is being courted by Southampton, but surely they are not going to.punt on a player that has had only about 6 weeks of form

It looks as though Eze and Manning are not going anywhere.

We still have Smith and Mlakar.

It is going to be an exciting or most likely a very boring 48 hrs
