Can’t see why Jack Clarke won’t add something to our options going forward. BOS is the only direct winger we have really, so Clarke will compliment him nicely as an alternative.

I really hope Clarke does well for you, except this weekend, obviously. A good player on his day but things just haven't gone too well for him since his illness/ incident at Boro last season. He has great skill but not a large body mass to fend off some of the defenders in this league, but hey they have to catch him first though. Is he eligible to play this weekend?
Obtaining a Goalie is not reckless it's an absolute necessity, season with loads of promise curtailed due to shocking decision making by Lumley and MW getting a No.2 as poor as Lumley

I don’t disagree, quite interesting that we’ve got a 24 year old, 6ft 4 keeper in Seny Dieng on loan at Doncaster going pretty well in League 1. Wonder if he’ll be brought back into the fold next season?
My only thought could be that we didn't insert a callback clause in the deal, if Dieng is playing well then it seems like a no brainer to get him back and give him a run of games.
No player goes out on loan from any club without a mid season break clause. However, most clubs never renege on the deal unless it is absolutely essential as their credibility in the loan market is shot to pieces if they do. Burnley would be sensible to recall Wells with their injury problems but Dyche has pretty much stated what I have written here.

Just to throw a random view in on this, contracts are not always down to the club. More often than not it is because a player does not want to sign a new one. The bad decision with Charlie imo was not selling him earlier. We took a risk of keeping him and hoping he would re-sign with us in the Prem...we know how that worked out.
Just to add. I really don't understand the Smithies deal though!
I suspect it's simply because the owners knew a long time before they revealed it to the world that they were going to lose the FFP battle and other clubs knew better than our fan base did that we were in no position to play hardball with anyone, Add to that the fact that Smithies would have wanted to leave as we were going nowhere. As we know keeping a star player a prisoner does not help you to win matches. The thing about Brentford is that their club is run purely on business lines. When the player can be sold for peak profit he is sold - no ifs or buts about needing him for the promotion bid. They don't hang on past that time because they have a depreciating asset.
All of those were bought not ‘produced’. And fat Paddy was no great shakes.
Peter Hucker, a very good keeper, was a genuine homegrown player.
Alex McCarthy was crap for us but is doing very well for Southampton now. Keepers are weird, perhaps Lumley will buck up. Or leave and be great for someone else.
As in so many things I have zero experience and expertise which would support an informed opinion on Lumley’s goalkeeping potential. I just wish he’d stop gifting stuff to our opponents, which is now beyond irritating. How many last chances does he get? If yet more the alternatives must be truly dire.
