Does every player have to be a giant up and at 'em type?
He's a good young player.
Thank **** our academies and coaches don't put size and power before everything else anymore.

Obtaining a Goalie is not reckless it's an absolute necessity, season with loads of promise curtailed due to shocking decision making by Lumley and MW getting a No.2 as poor as LumleyCan’t see why Jack Clarke won’t add something to our options going forward. BOS is the only direct winger we have really, so Clarke will compliment him nicely as an alternative.
Warbs will know a CB is a priority, but January is the month of inflated prices, if the right deal isn’t on the table then steer clear until the Summer. The time of reckless, panic signings is over. I like what we’re doing.
My first thoughts looks like the housewives choice but after seeing the highlights he has got a proper strong pair of legs. Looks a little odd top half boy bottom half man!He looks and sounds like a 12 year old

I don’t disagree, quite interesting that we’ve got a 24 year old, 6ft 4 keeper in Seny Dieng on loan at Doncaster going pretty well in League 1. Wonder if he’ll be brought back into the fold next season?
I can't work out why we haven't recalled him.
My only thought could be that we didn't insert a callback clause in the deal, if Dieng is playing well then it seems like a no brainer to get him back and give him a run of games.
Any incoming player suggested by the manager or one who has played for the manager before should have a completely independent scouting/recruitment process.
We saw with Redkrapp how many of the team were simply signed because Harry thought they were "triffic" lads!
Would it happen in any other industry, that the manager simply brings in his/her previous staff?
We certainly need a goalkeeper who doesn't effectively have us a goal down at kick-off!
4 over 40 years doesn't sound like a conveyor belt of talent! We used to be super at producing great goalkeepers. Parkes, Seaman, Kenny, Smithies. What's happened?
Hello all. Long time no post
Just to throw a random view in on this, contracts are not always down to the club. More often than not it is because a player does not want to sign a new one. The bad decision with Charlie imo was not selling him earlier. We took a risk of keeping him and hoping he would re-sign with us in the Prem...we know how that worked out.
Just to add. I really don't understand the Smithies deal though!
All of those were bought not ‘produced’. And fat Paddy was no great shakes. We used to be super at producing great goalkeepers. Parkes, Seaman, Kenny, Smithies. What's happened?

Peter Hucker, a very good keeper, was a genuine homegrown player.
Alex McCarthy was crap for us but is doing very well for Southampton now. Keepers are weird, perhaps Lumley will buck up. Or leave and be great for someone else.
As in so many things I have zero experience and expertise which would support an informed opinion on Lumley’s goalkeeping potential. I just wish he’d stop gifting stuff to our opponents, which is now beyond irritating. How many last chances does he get? If yet more the alternatives must be truly dire.Or remain distinctly average to poor.
