jamie redknapp's thoughts on us!

That is an excellent article by Jamie Redknapp, agreed with almost every single thing he said which is extremely refreshing considering I'm normally reading Lawro and Merson's horse dollop.

Particularly interesting points he brought up were about Leon Best at Southampton and asking why the bubble should burst when it seemingly has no good reason to. I think it's more about the 'big 3' (Man United, Man City and Chelsea) and the 'best of the rest' (Tottenham, Liverpool, Arsenal, even us if we can keep up the pace). In the end nobody expects us to beat any of these three teams never mind all in a row, I fail to see how that constitutes our 'bubble' bursting if we lose - but make no mistake articles will be all over the place about how it has. As long as we recover well - barring an inexplicable decline in team spirit or an injury crisis I don't see why we wouldn't - I don't see how that constitutes our 'bubble' bursting.

 

Has he ever tipped us to win this year.

 

Have you guys,(those who read) ever felt that maybe he is right. The reason we didn't do so well last season was with Shola, we didn't really defend from the front? He wouldn't be pressing

No, never. Not once.

 

It was nice to see a positive article for once. You can still tell they all HATE to see us up there in the table though.

On a side note, we are weak in certain areas where injuries will hit us hard, but they never seem to mention the fact that players along the lines of Marveaux, Santon, Ben Arfa, etc... cant actually get into the current starting eleven.

At the end of the day their opinion on the club is worthless anyway.

 

Well, it is true. We will know more following those three games.

The things we learn will be either:

a. We are not really capable of competing with any of them. This is the currently held opinionm by virtually everyone, including me; or

b. We can compete with the best.

So it's absolutley correct that these games will be a major test. It's just that it's a test there's no way of failing. They will show we're eithere as good as we think we are or better

 

Or: "Years ago, most of us fancied Newcastle.. much like is the case with my wife."

 

That is pathetic, fair enough if we were bottom of the league on about 5 points.

 

Even other clubs fans think we'll win, yet Merson doesn't

In fairness, Everton are a decent team and I wouldn't be surprised if it was a draw

 

I really don't understand why anyone gives a flying **** what pundits think.

Lawrenson, Hansen, Shearer, Redknapp, Merson, Le Tissier... who gives a ****?

 

Fair play Jamie.

Surprised about how professional him and Neville have been, pity some of the others aren't so adult.

 

I won't really care whether we pick up points against those 3, but I will say, we're a tough team to play against this year, maybe the toughest in the league, and I think we'll compete in all 3. And by tough, I'm not saying in the way that City outclasses everyone with skill, but that we're great at not letting clubs play how they'd like - there's a great mix of skill and will that just doesn't give clubs anything easy.
